IIT Madras has eased the GATE 2027 registration rule. Aspirants can now apply through unverified DigiLocker accounts. The update is live on the official portal at gate2027.iitm.ac.in.
The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) is conducting GATE 2027. The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) opens doors to PG admissions and PSU jobs. Earlier, only verified e-KYC DigiLocker profiles could complete the application.
Under the revised rule, aspirants may select a default ID proof. Their documents will be scrutinised after the registration window closes. Original papers will also be verified at the examination hall.

What Does the DigiLocker Relaxation Mean?
GATE 2027 rules earlier required a fully verified DigiLocker account. Verification is done through Aadhaar-based e-KYC on the DigiLocker app. Many aspirants faced delays due to Aadhaar name or address mismatches.
IIT Madras has now opened a second registration pathway. Candidates without e-KYC verification can still submit their applications. Such forms will be scrutinised after the registration deadline ends.
