New Delhi: Prof. Gobardhan Das has been appointed as the new head of the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER Bhopal). Prof. Das previously served as Professor and Chair of Special Centre for Molecular Medicine at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.
In 1997, Prof. Das graduated with a PhD in Immunology Host-Pathogen Relationship from Chandigarh's Institute of Microbial Technology. He is a member of well-known professional associations including the Guha Research Council and the Molecular Immunology Forum.
Prof. Das holds editorial roles as Associate Editor for PlosOne, Mycobacterial Diseases, Frontiers in Immunology, and reviewer for Blood, J. Exp. Med, J. Biological Chemistry, Cancer Research, Gastroenterology, Cell Research, Microbiology Immunology, Eur. J. Immunol, PlosPathogens, Cellular Immunology, Microbiology and Immunology, and Tuberculosis in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences USA.

Prof. Das is the organization's third director since IISER Bhopal's founding in 2008. Additionally, he holds honorary roles as an adjunct professor at Soochow University in Suzhou, China, and the Houston Methodist Research Institute in Houston, USA.
