The Drone Didi development program which is focused on Human-Computer Interaction and operated by IIT Mandi iHub, has earned significant acclaim from NSDC.
New Delhi: The Indian Insitute of Technology Mandi Hub, a Technology Innovation Hub specializing in Human-Computer Interaction, got recognition from the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) of India for its Drone Didi skill development program.
CEO of IIT Mandi iHub, Mr. Somjit Amrit along with Ms. Shashi Bala, represented IIT Mandi iHub at the inauguration ceremony of the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship in New Delhi. They got the honor of presenting the success of the initiative to the Hon’ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu.
The ‘Drone Didi’ is an Entrepreneurship Development Program initiative taken for women in Himachal Pradesh and beyond, with a specific focus on Agri Drone Applications. The project is not only a skill development endeavor but also a platform for women to establish businesses in the burgeoning field of drone technology.
The Agriculture Skill Council of India is giving its support to the first batch of the Drone Didi program, with a total of 20 female students at the IIT Mandi campus in collaboration with the Institute’s Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (CAIR). Highlighting the Women’s Empowerment in Agriculture through Drone Automation, President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu said, “Empowering women is a very crucial realm of agriculture through the implementation of drone automation is a transformative initiative.’
Participants of the Drone Didi program will receive training and support from Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana 4.0, which includes: Theoretical and practical knowledge about drone flying, capacity to build support in entrepreneurship, mentorship support, and enabling market/credit linkages.
