IIT Jodhpur has launched a new BS programme in Mathematics and Computing for the 2026-27 session. The programme has a projected intake of 40 seats and admission will be through JEE Advanced 2026 via JoSAA counselling.

The Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur (IIT Jodhpur) has announced a new Bachelor of Science (BS) programme in Mathematics and Computing. The announcement has been published on the official website at iitj.ac.in. The new programme will run from the 2026-27 academic session.
The programme is being offered by the Department of Mathematics at IIT Jodhpur. It is designed to build strong mathematical foundations. It also focuses on advanced computational and data skills.
BS Mathematics and Computing Programme Structure
The programme follows a credit-based structure across its full duration. The total credit load is 153 credits. Of these, 141 are graded and 12 are non-graded.
| Component | Credits | Share of Total |
| Institute Core | 39 | 27.6% |
| Programme Core | 90 | 63.8% |
| Open Electives | 12 | 8.5% |
| Total Credits | 153 | 100% |
The projected intake for the first batch is 40 students. Seats will be filled through the standard IIT admission route. The Department of Mathematics will administer the curriculum.
Curriculum Focus and Elective Verticals
The curriculum blends rigorous mathematics with computer science fundamentals. Core mathematics topics include analysis, algebra, and probability. The programme also covers linear algebra and discrete structures.
Computing topics include algorithms, data structures, and machine learning. Students can choose from three elective verticals. These cover Data Science, Mathematical Computing, and Scientific Computing.

How Will Admission Take Place for the New Programme?
Admission to BTech and BS programmes at the IITs follows a common route. Candidates must first qualify the JEE Advanced 2026 examination. The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) then handles counselling and seat allotment.
Students must also meet the Class 12 eligibility set by the IIT system. The standard requirement is a 75 percent aggregate in Class 12. Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) must be studied at the qualifying level.
