IIT Delhi Abu Dhabi Campus to Offer Courses on Energy Transition; Classes to Commence from January


New Delhi: The Union Education Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan has announced that the upcoming campus of IIT Delhi at Abu Dhabi will be commencing its first course from January 2024. The announcement was made during the union minister’s three-day visit to Abu Dhabi. 

IIT Delhi will be offering a postgraduate course on Energy transition and Sustainability as its first course. “IIT Delhi-Abu Dhabi campus will be an example of India-UAE friendship,” Pradhan said. IIT Delhi is expected to begin other programs by September 2024.

He met the Minister of Foreign Affairs, UAE, Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed in Abu Dhabi.

“The primary focus of the meeting was the enduring friendship that has long connected India and UAE, as well as the robust comprehensive strategic partnership that encompasses various sectors, including exploring opportunities for collaboration, with a particular emphasis on the realm of education,” read a statement from the ministry.

“The IIT Delhi-Abu Dhabi campus marks a significant stride in our efforts to internationalise India’s education. It will open up a plethora of opportunities for leveraging the power of knowledge for mutual prosperity and global well-being,” he said

Pradhan also visited the interim campus of the institute. “It [the project] is a testament of the common vision and priorities of the leadership of both our countries. Happy with the progress. The IIT Delhi-Abu Dhabi campus marks a significant stride in our efforts to internationalise India’s education. It will open up a plethora of opportunities for leveraging the power of knowledge for mutual prosperity and global well-being,” he said.

Earlier, in July, the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi visited the Emirates Capital and had signed a MoU with UAE to set-up a campus of IIT-Delhi in Abu Dhabi.
