IISc Bangalore UG Admission 2025-26

Indian Institute of Science (IISc Bangalore) will start the admission process for B.Tech and BS (Research) programs from May 1, 2025. Admissions for the academic year 2025-26 will be conducted for B.Tech in Mathematics and Computing and Four-Year BS (Research) programs.

IISc Bangalore UG Admission 2025-26 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates seeking admissions in either B.Tech or BS (Research) programs must fulfill the following eligibility criteria:

BTech in Mathematics & Computing Eligibility

Candidates must have appeared for the class XII (or equivalent) examination for the first time in either 2023, 2024, or 2025. Physics, Chemistr,y and Mathematics must be the compulsory subjects in the first appearance.

In addition, candidates must fulfill at least one of the following criteria:

  • Must have secured at least 75% aggregate marks in the Class XII (or equivalent) Board examination.
  • The aggregate marks for SC, ST, and PwD candidates should be at least 65%.
  • Must be within the category-wise top 20 percentile of successful candidates in their respective Class XII (or equivalent) board examination.
  • The marks scored in the following five subjects will be considered for calculating the aggregate and cut-off marks for fulfilling the top 20 percentile criterion.
    • Physics
    • Chemistry
    • Mathematics
    • Any language (if the candidate has taken more than one language, then the language with the higher marks will be considered)
    • Any subject other than the above four (subject with the highest marks will be considered).

Candidates will be selected based on the JEE (Advanced) 2025 ranks/scores.

Four-Year BS (Research) Eligibility

  • Must have completed their 10+2 (or equivalent) examination in 2023, 2024, or are expecting to complete their examination in 2025.
  • Must have studied Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as main subjects in their qualifying exam along with any other subjects.
  • Must have secured a first-class or 60% or equivalent grade (relaxed to pass class for SC/ST candidates) in the qualifying examination (i.e., 10+2 or equivalent).

Selection of the candidates will be based on the merit list of one of the following national examinations.

  • JEE(Advanced) 2025
  • IISER Aptitude Test (IAT) 2025

Note: Candidates must be qualified in any one of the exams mentioned above, and the exam result must be valid as of August 1, 2025.

Applicants who have applied before the declaration of results must log in and update their score/rank details within 3 days after the result announcement.

The fee is non-refundable and any bank or payment gateway service charges must be handled by the applicant. Online payment can be made through net banking, debit card, credit card, or UPI.

All the students who join the Institute for Four-Year BS (Research) program are eligible for a scholarship from the INSPIRE/IISc Promotional Scheme (IIScP), depending upon their entry mode. Scholarships from many Indian & multinational agencies, and business houses are also available for students. The scholarship amount may vary for different scholarship agencies as per norms.
