IISc Bangalore is inviting applications for PG and PhD programs for the academic year 2025-26. Admissions are open for Engineering (M.Tech, M.Des, Master in Management, Master in Engineering, and Joint M.Tech) and Science (MSc in Life Sciences and MSc in Chemical Sciences) programs.

IISc Bangalore PG Admission 2025-26 Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility Criteria For Engineering Programs

  • M.Tech Programs:
    • Must have a minimum of second class or equivalent in a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field of Engineering / Technology or BE/B.Tech/B.Arch equivalent examinations of Professional Societies.
    • Master’s degree in Physical Sciences, Mathematics, Statistics, Geology, Instrumentation, Electronics, Computer Applications.
    • A valid GATE 2023 / 2024 / 2025 score.
  • M.Des:
    • Must have a minimum of second class in Bachelor’s degree in Engineering / Technology / Design / Architecture
    • Valid GATE 2023 / 2024 / 2025 or CEED 2025 / CAT 2024 scores as of August 1, 2025.
  • Master of Management:
    • Must have a minimum of first class or equivalent in Bachelor’s degree in Engineering / Technology or equivalent
    • Valid GATE 2023 / 2024 / 2025 or CAT 2024 / GMAT scores as of August 1, 2025.
  • M.Tech (through CFTI Mode of Entry):
    • Graduates of any course with a minimum duration of four years, from any Centrally Funded Technical Institution
    • A minimum CGPA of 8.0 or its equivalent
    • Eligible to apply under CFTI Mode of Entry without qualifying in GATE.
  • Masters in Engineering (Semiconductor Technology) and 1-Year Joint M.Tech in Semiconductor Technology (with Taiwanese Universities):
    • BE / B.Tech or equivalent degree in any discipline with GATE paper in EC, EE, IN, ME, MT, PH, BM, XE-C
    • M Sc or equivalent degree in Electronics or Physics with GATE paper in EC, IN, PH
    • Graduates of any course with a minimum duration of four years, from any Centrally Funded Technical Institution
    • A minimum CGPA of 8.0 or its equivalent
    • Eligible to apply under CFTI Mode of Entry without qualifying in GATE.

Eligibility Criteria For Science Programs

  • MSc in Life Sciences:
    • A minimum of first class or equivalent in Bachelor’s or an equivalent degree in Physical, Chemical, or Biological Sciences (including Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical, Veterinary Sciences, and Agricultural Sciences)
    • A minimum of first class or equivalent in BE/B Tech degree.
    • JAM in Biotechnology (BT), Chemistry (CY), Mathematics (MA), or Physics (PH) paper
    • GATE in Biotechnology (BT), Biomedical Engineering (BM), Electronics Communication Engineering (EC), Ecology (EY), Mathematics (MA), Physics (PH), or Life Sciences (XL) paper
  • MSc in Chemical Sciences:
    • A minimum of first class in B.Sc or an equivalent degree
    • Must have Chemistry as one of the main subjects with Mathematics at the PUC or Plus 2 level.
    • JAM 2025 in Chemistry (CY) paper

Selection Procedure For Engineering Programs

  • M.Tech Programs:

Bioengineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electronic Product Design, Electronic Systems Engineering, Instrumentation Systems, Mechanical Engineering, Microelectronics and VLSI Design, Mobility Engineering, Quantum Technology, Robotics and Autonomous Systems, Smart Manufacturing, Smart Mobility and Logistics Systems Based on 70% GATE score + 30% performance in interview
Artificial Intelligence, Chemical Engineering Based on 70% GATE score + 30% performance in written test
Computational & Data Sciences Based on 70% GATE score + 30% performance in written test and interview
  • M.Des: Selection will be based on GATE/CEED/CAT score (70%) and performance in the interview (30%).
  • Master of Management: Selection will be based on GATE / CAT / GMAT score (15%), UG performance (15%), communication skill (30%), and performance in the interview (40%).
  • M.Tech programs (through CFTI Mode of Entry):

Artificial Intelligence Based on 70% weightage on CAM score + 30% performance in the written test
Semiconductor Technology Based on 100% weightage on the CAM score
Computational & Data Sciences Based on 70% CAM score + 30% performance in written test and interview
  • Masters in Engineering (Semiconductor Technology) and 1-Year Joint M.Tech in Semiconductor Technology:
  • For GATE-qualified applicants, selection will be based on a GATE score (100%)
  • For students from CFTIs with CGPA ≥ 8.0, selection will be based on 100% weightage on CAM (Career Analysis Marks) score.

Selection Procedure For Science Programs

  • MSc in Life Sciences: Candidates will be shortlisted for interview based on their JAM 2025 or GATE 2023 / 2024 / 2025 score. Final selection will be based on the performance in the interview.
  • MSc in Chemical Sciences: Selection will be based on the performance in the JAM 2025 in Chemistry (CY) paper (100%).

The fee is non-refundable and any bank or payment gateway service charges must be handled by the applicant. Online payment can be made through net banking, debit card, credit card, or UPI.

All the regular PG students (except for MSc / Master of Management /MTech through CFTI Mode /Joint M.Tech in Semiconductor Technology / Masters in Engineering) who join the Institute are eligible for scholarships from MHRD/CSIR/UGC/ICMR/DBT/DST/AICTE/DAE (NBHM) depending upon their mode of entry. Scholarships from many Indian & multinational agencies, and business houses are also available for students. The scholarship amount may vary for different scholarship agencies as per norms.
