IIM Vizag to Offer Collaborative MBA for Students of NIT, Warangal and IIITDM, Kurnool; Check Details Here

New Delhi: Three renowned Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs), namely the Indian Institute of Management Visakhapatnam (IIMV), the National Institute of Technology Warangal (NITW), and the Indian Institute of Information Technology, Design and Manufacturing, Kurnool (IIITDMK), all of which are Institutions of National Importance (INIs), have announced the launch of a collaborative MBA program on September 20, 2023 to provide BTech and MTech students from the Participating Technical Institution (PTIs) the opportunity to pursue the prestigious IIMV MBA program.

This offering is consistent with the New (National) Educational Policy (NEP 2020), which encourages multidisciplinary education, allowing students to become well-rounded citizens better prepared for the future through holistic development achieved through the exploration of various facets of managerial knowledge combined with engineering and technical skills.

The program, which is available in an easy-to-follow hybrid style, will provide students with improved capacities and skills, as well as a broader range of and more appealing employment alternatives.

Prof. Chandrasekhar, Director of IIM Visakhapatnam, praised the leadership of NITW and IIITDMK for their collaboration in this exciting endeavour, a one-of-a-kind initiative that contributes to a brighter future for students.

"As NEP 2020 envisions, this collaboration among the three higher educational institutions provides students with greater flexibility and choice in their studies, assisting them in gaining new capabilities that they may not have otherwise had the opportunity to acquire in their academic careers," he added.

Prof Bidyadhar Subudhi, Director of NIT Warangal, stated, "this collaboration strengthens the expertise available with our School of Management (SoM), whose endeavour has been to transform technocrats from various streams of engineering into techno-managers. This collaborative MBA Program, jointly offered by NIT Warangal and IIM Visakhapatnam, would allow our students to achieve a BTech and an MBA from two national-level institutes in five years, saving them an academic year. It will equip young scientific brains for professions in technology management. Many industries seek employees with a combination of engineering and managerial talents, and this program can assist engineering students in having a greater entrée into the management discipline, thanks to the high brand equity of the IIM MBA degree. Both institutes' professors can co-teach, improving the program's delivery. It can provide students with a brighter future by preparing them with higher competences and chances in work and entrepreneurship.”

Prof Somayajulu, Director of IIITDM Kurnool said, “this agreement provides a great opportunity for IIITDM Kurnool students to pursue a blended-mode MBA that seamlessly merges technical expertise with managerial capabilities, improving problem-solving ability and career opportunities. The collaboration also stimulates creativity and provides significant networking possibilities, encouraging technological improvements with a market-driven approach. In essence, this collaboration prepares engineering students for success in a competitive employment market while also developing future technology leaders.”

Professor M S Jawed, Program Chair, described the collaboration as a pioneering effort that marks a significant milestone in management education, providing a unique pathway for engineering and technology enthusiasts to seamlessly integrate managerial skills into their technical prowess.

The program allows students to delve deeper into their chosen areas of specialisation through a flexible and balanced blend of on-campus immersion and online courses.

The curriculum is precisely intended to educate young minds for a dynamic career in techno-managerial jobs, with a wide range of alternatives. Our programme prepares students for success in an industry that increasingly values applicants with both engineering and managerial skills. It provides them with not only the technical skills anticipated of a CFTI graduate, but also the strategic thinking and leadership attributes required for managerial responsibilities.

Furthermore, students who complete this programme become alumni of IIMV, getting access to a broad network of professionals and resources. As a result, the journey will be transforming, opening up a world of possibilities.

"IIMV is dedicated to developing the next generation of technology leaders with a distinct managerial edge," Prof Jawed stated.
