Madurai Kamaraj University is set to open its online admission portal for various regular Postgraduate (PG), M.Phil, and PhD programmes for the Academic Year 2026-27. Interested candidates are encouraged to apply through the official university website at mkuniversity.ac.in.

Madurai Kamaraj University has an application fee of Rs. 300 for all Non-Entrance (Category B) programmes, while those applying for Entrance-Based (Category A) programmes, such as MBA, MCA, and M.Sc. specialisations, are required to pay Rs. 800.

This higher fee for Category A includes both the Registration and Entrance Examination charges. Notably, the university offers a social welfare concession, where SC/ST and Christian AdiDravidar candidates are fully exempt from the application fee for a single programme. However, if they choose to apply for additional courses, the standard fees will apply. Prospective students should mark their calendars as the online application portal is scheduled to go live on March 2, 2026, with the submission window expected to remain open until April or May 2026.

Offered Courses

The university offers a wide range of courses under two categories:

• Category A (Entrance Based): M.Sc. (Genomics, Microbiology, Biotechnology, etc.), MBA, MCA, M.Ed., and M.P.Ed.
• Category B (Non-Entrance/Merit Based): M.A. (Linguistics, Economics, Political Science, etc.), M.Com, M.Li.I.Sc., and various Diploma/Certificate courses.

Eligibility Criteria

• For PG Programmes: Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in the relevant discipline from a recognized university with a minimum of 50% to 55% marks (depending on the specific course).
• For Diploma/Certificate Courses: A pass in 10+2 (Higher Secondary) or a relevant degree as specified by the department.
• For Professional Courses (MBA/MCA): A valid degree with Mathematics at the 10+2 or UG level for MCA; any degree for MBA.

Selection Process

• Entrance Category: Selection is based on the marks obtained in the University Entrance Test, followed by a group discussion or interview where applicable.
• Merit Category: Selection is strictly based on the marks secured in the qualifying undergraduate degree.
