What are your roles and responsibilities towards the students?

As a lecturer, I am responsible for delivering informative lectures that cover relevant course content. I want to help students understand the concept of what they are studying and why they should focus on it. I am responsible for motivating students and sharing the right examples with them so they choose a better career path.

How do you establish healthy relations with the students and fellow faculty?

I always recommend having an open and closed group discussions with students and faculty. Open group discussion is for anything that students or faculty would like to share with everyone, but on the other side, if there are any concerns that should be addressed in private, I prefer to have closed group discussions between students and faculty and try to resolve them asap. I provide a friendly environment for students, which helps enhance their confidence. I also resolve their academic related problems as well as personal problems and try to establish healthy relationships with all students.

How do you introduce a practical and industry-oriented approach towards subjects?

Planning is key to having organised practicals and making the most of them. As a lecturer at S.S. Jain Subodh College of Global Excellence, I always plan a strategy to deliver lectures and organize practical classes. We have adopted an industry-oriented approach to enhance students' practical knowledge. We also take the students on industrial visits, which I believe have many benefits, like the opportunity to interact with experts, network, and develop interpersonal skills. The students learn about the latest technology trends and make up their minds about their future job or area of interest.

How do you strategize and update the curriculum to make it befitting for the students?

We plan our content delivery within a specific time frame, the remaining time we focus on revisions. We keep updating our curriculum as and when needed, which includes practical and theoretical lecturers as well. We have co-curricular activities that assist students’ intellectual, social, emotional, moral, creative, and physical growth.

What are your views on the placements and higher education of the students from your department?

Higher education is a highly recommended option for bachelor's students. To help with placements, we have included a lot of industry surveys and internships to better understand the market. We have a proper placement cell for the placements, and in the current scenario, these cells have gained even more importance because of the cut-throat competition in the market.

Which strategy do you use to help students to cope with this competitive world?

We motivate our students to participate in competitions. We help our students by telling them which areas to focus on for example, for Science exams, must pay special attention to diagrams, graphs, and other visual aids. These visuals have the power to really boost your memory for any piece of information. This learning technique is special because it focuses on the time when students are not studying. In this retrieval practice, a student can easily recall what they have learned after the studying session gets over.

What extracurricular activities are organized in college to enhance the skills of the students?

In our college, many extra-curricular activities are organised like cultural activities, quizzes, competitions, etc. We regularly hold Krishna Janmotsav, Deepotasav, Science Quiz, Business Quiz, PPT Presentation Competition, Flower Exhibition, Computer Quiz, Model and Poster Making Competition Debate Competition, and annual Sports Day. These activities refresh the students during the academic year and also enhance their skills in various areas.

Which challenges are you facing to uplift the quality of education of your department?

Our biggest challenge is to Impart quality education in the fields of Botany and to make the students acquire in-depth knowledge relevant to local, regional and national needs. It is difficult to adequately equip the students to apply themselves meaningfully in any activity requiring botanical expertise.

What are the approaches you bring in apart from curriculum to teach students?

One way to successfully teach biology is to target one or two main concepts and make them relatable and engaging. We do that by focusing on what students can do with the information. We focus on understanding a concept rather than trying to simply teach it. Effective ways to teach Botany are - relating biology to everyday life; incorporating hands-on activities, creating multimedia material; looking for ways to bridge technology and biology, hosting biology centered field trips, and trying different learning and teaching strategies.

Any valuable advice which you would like to share with the young minds?

Students need to understand the difference between smart work and hard work. If students are looking for long-term secured success in a field, then they must concentrate both on smart work and hard work together.
