What do you think should be the college’s priority over the next three years since Vedic PG College has last year turned from Girl's College to a core-acquired college?
Recognizing that times have changed and social norms have evolved, We gradually transition to a coeducational college. The transition to coeducation is consistent with the current educational landscape, where both girls and boys typically receive their basic education in co-educational schools. This shift reflects changing thinking about promoting gender-equitable learning environments. We understand that significant changes have occurred in the education sector and that the days of separating daughters and sons for educational reasons are now largely over. Our institution strives to keep pace with these social changes and to take advantage of the opportunities offered by coeducation to provide a more diverse and inclusive learning experience.
How do you plan on using the immense knowledge and experience that you have gained by serving in the education industry for decades as an integral member of the institute?
Improving the college libraries and fostering progressive teaching methods among both students and staff are vital steps in ensuring a holistic and effective learning environment. Interdisciplinary learning is particularly commendable. Encouraging teachers to broaden their knowledge base beyond their specific disciplines contributes to a more well-rounded and enriched educational experience. It enables educators to connect ideas across various fields and helps students see the interconnectedness of knowledge. This approach not only enhances classroom teaching but also equips students with a broader perspective and critical thinking skills that extend beyond the confines of traditional subject matter. Your dedication to these principles underscores your commitment to providing a comprehensive and forward-looking education to your students.
When you look back at the education industry uh what are the major differences that you feel have happened in the last 10 15 20 years?
Your observations regarding the shift in student attendance and interest are quite insightful. It’s clear that the landscape of education is evolving, and the dynamics of student engagement are changing. The rise of coaching and preparatory institutes does indeed present a challenge to traditional colleges and institutions. This shift in preference may be due to various factors, including the specialized nature of coaching, focused exam preparation, and the perception of better career prospects. To address this challenge, it’s important for colleges to adapt and evolve. This may involve enhancing the quality of education and the overall learning experience, offering specialized courses or career-oriented programs, and providing additional support services to students. Building a vibrant campus environment and promoting holistic development can also make traditional colleges more appealing to students. Ultimately, striking a balance between traditional classroom education and the specific needs and aspirations of students is key to ensuring that colleges remain relevant and attractive in this changing educational landscape.
