Dr. Rashmi Sharma is an Associate professor and Principal in Gautam Buddha Degree College, Lucknow. She holds a Phd in Education, with more than 20 years of experience in teaching in ICSE Schools and higher education. She has published three books and 15 research papers in national and international journals. She has presented more than 50 papers in national and international seminars. She has attended various seminars, conferences and FDPs.

We at Gautam Buddha Degree College focus on holistic development of students they are not only trained them in getting necessary skill related to their curriculum, we also faster the core values and life skill to be able to survive in all kinds of job as well as in personal life they are made to develop themselves into the individuals who can take decision for themselves as per the need of the professions they want to go.

Being the Principal/Vice Principal of Gautam buddha degree college what is your philosophy of leadership? How would you describe your leadership style?

Internship, field study and market exposure are the best practices. We organize for students so they can gain knowledge about their courses and make decisions accordingly co-curriculum activities are also organized to train them in becoming outgoing and confident individuals.

Being the Principal/ Vice Principal of Gautam Buddha Degree College, how do you strategize about the key programs and plans for the marketing and administration of your school ?

We take and admit students from all parts of counseling and from all religions and different states of the society. That gives the best environment to learn from each other.

The education systems in India and other foreign countries are structured very differently. In your experience, what can an inbound student gain from studying here in your Gautam buddha degree college?

All the principals/ VP are first the teachers and as well connected with their students, so it is always good to be in a position where you provide the best learning environment to your students and managing those things are our priority.

How does the curriculum of Gautam Buddha Degree College ensure the best practice of industry?

Collaboration of getting the best out of each employee according to his/her potential is a key factor in our institution. All employees are not the same, so we try to get the best out of each by giving them the work accordingly democratic way is followed where every employee or teacher is given the opportunity to keep her/his views in decision making.

Any insights into how your university could be more welcoming to students of different races or economic backgrounds?

Our college believes that diversity of students' backgrounds can provide a good learning environment in any institution. college and university should provide them economic help in the form of scholarships to the weaker but meritorious students. We at Gautam Buddha Degree College have a hostel facility, mentor mentee system and periodical internal examination system and anti ragging cell so that students of different backgrounds can adjust and study in a peaceful and cohesive environment.

What do you think your roles and responsibilities to the University and the students are?

As a Principal, I am in charge of overseeing every aspect of my college as evaluation of teachers and achievements of students. Management of various things such as financial, administration, infrastructure and many more. Most importantly, I feel as an academic leader, I have to oversee that the institution runs properly in accordance with its vision and mission.

What do you think should be the University’s top priority over the next ten years?

Under university' top priorities over the next ten years, we are working on a strategic plan. This would work on research areas, teaching and social responsibility. We would offer different and new courses to students in future and would aim at providing good career opportunities to students.

When you first came to the Gautam Buddha Degree College, what was your vision for the university? Has it evolved over time, and how far along in implementing that vision are you?

Our college is doing great in every field. Since the time I joined the college, my aim has always been to provide quality education to students. This college is based on the teachings of Lord Buddha and we always aim at implementation of those teachings and visions in our college.
