What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

My enduring connection with the education sector is fueled by a genuine passion for the subject. This passion extends beyond merely teaching the syllabus; I am committed to adapting and incorporating industrial and research advancements into our pedagogical approach. By instilling a practical-oriented teaching methodology, I aim to prepare students for real-world challenges. Remaining engaged with the education sector is essential for refining logical and analytical skills, fostering active thinking, and honing the ability to provide impactful analogies. This continuous connection ensures that our educational practices align with industry needs, contributing to a well-rounded and forward-thinking learning experience for our students.

What is your philosophy of leadership as the Vice Principal?

My leadership philosophy as Vice Principal centers on fostering a shared vision that provides clear direction. I am dedicated to building a cohesive community where leadership is a collective effort. Within our college, I actively collaborate with others to nurture leadership skills at every position and level. Recognising and amplifying individual strengths is paramount, showcasing a genuine appreciation for each person's expertise. This strength-based approach not only establishes meaningful connections but also motivates individuals to continually improve. By prioritising collaboration, valuing diverse strengths, and encouraging continuous growth, I aim to create an environment where everyone is inspired to excel daily.

What do you see as your college’s greatest strengths?

Our college's paramount strengths lie in our well-trained, research-oriented, experienced, dedicated, and energetic teaching faculty. Complementing this, we boast an exclusive and supportive non-teaching and laboratory staff. The infrastructure is excellent, meticulously maintained to provide a conducive teaching and learning environment, bolstered by a prolific library. Noteworthy features include smart classrooms and well-equipped laboratories, contributing to our impressive results in university examinations. A simple and transparent admission procedure adds to our strengths, reflecting our commitment to accessibility and fairness in the educational journey we offer to our students.

Any suggestions you would like to give to the aspiring students?

I would advise aspiring students to make decisive choices regarding their specific field while in college and supplement their learning with value-added courses in that area. Embrace the opportunity to explore new ideas, leaving behind preconceived notions. Be open-minded, considering and studying thoughts before dismissing them, and don't shy away from standing out to be heard. Recognise that learning extends beyond textbooks and professors; maintaining a good balance in life is crucial. Your academic journey is not just about gaining knowledge but also about developing a holistic approach to life. Keep reminding yourself of the importance of maintaining that balance throughout your educational pursuits.

What are some of the biggest challenges you see for higher education?

Enhancing quality and fostering development in education are paramount challenges we face in higher education. The evolving landscape, marked by automated, digitized, and dynamic job markets, renders our current higher education systems potentially incompatible with the future. Discussions often center around the necessary skills for the future and the urgency of reskilling, but it's equally crucial to address the inevitable structural transformations of higher education. Our primary challenge lies in ensuring our students secure positions in tier one companies and establishing a conducive research environment to facilitate their academic and professional growth. Navigating these shifts is key to preparing students for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.

How do you think diversity is important in an educational institution?

Diversity plays a pivotal role in the educational landscape, particularly in higher education, exerting a profound influence on students' academic, social, and future experiences. The merits of diversity extend beyond the classroom, fostering an environment where students collaborate with peers from diverse races, ethnicities, and cultural backgrounds. This engagement prompts students to question and challenge their accustomed perspectives, resulting in heightened awareness, understanding, and acceptance of differing beliefs and customs. Embracing diversity enriches the educational journey, preparing students to navigate a globalized world by instilling adaptability, open-mindedness, and an appreciation for the rich tapestry of human experiences.
