What is your leadership philosophy? 

My leadership philosophy revolves around key principles such as effective time management, patience, appreciation for the team's efforts, fostering coordination, ensuring equality, and possessing strong problem-solving skills. As the Head of the Civil Engineering Department at our Polytechnic College, I believe in leading by example and creating an environment that encourages open communication, creativity, and continuous improvement. By prioritising time efficiently, maintaining patience, and recognising the contributions of each team member, I aim to build a cohesive and motivated department that excels in both the academic and practical aspects of civil engineering education.

Any valuable advice would you like to give the students for them to have a prosperous career ahead?

I advise students to prioritise the importance of their studies, maintain discipline, and uphold punctuality to lay a strong foundation for a prosperous career. Developing essential skills, both technical and soft, is crucial in today's competitive world. Our college provides guidance and counselling to support students in their personal and academic growth. Embracing a proactive and inquisitive approach to learning will not only enhance their knowledge but also contribute to their overall development. By instilling these values and leveraging the resources available, students can pave the way for a successful and fulfilling career journey.

What extracurricular activities on campus enhance the skills of students?

Our campus offers a diverse range of extracurricular activities that significantly contribute to the holistic development of students. The National Service Scheme (NSS) engages students in community service, fostering social responsibility and empathy. Programs focusing on awareness campaigns, particularly on road safety, instill a sense of civic duty. The Entrepreneurship Club encourages students to explore innovative ideas and business concepts. How do you help your students to cope up with the high competition outside? 

To equip our students for the competitive professional landscape, we employ a multifaceted approach. We establish a strong industry connection by forming an advisory committee comprising industry experts. Regular industry visits are organised to provide students with firsthand exposure to real-world scenarios. Practical lab learning, including the use of industry-standard software, ensures that students gain hands-on experience. The curriculum is designed with input from the industry to align with current requirements. This holistic approach, combining theoretical knowledge with practical applications and industry exposure, prepares our students to face and excel in the high-competition environment awaiting them outside the campus.

What career options would be available for students after pursuing courses from your college? 

Upon completing our civil diploma program, students have a plethora of career options. Government exams provide lucrative opportunities in the public sector. Graduates can pursue further studies in engineering to deepen their expertise. For those inclined towards entrepreneurship, starting a construction business is a viable option. Additionally, there are opportunities in the field of civil design, where graduates can contribute their skills to various projects.
