What is the latest program that you are offering in your department? Which will help students outperform in Global competition?

The Faculty of Electrical Skills Education is offering 3 years of B. Voc degree in Electrical Skills and Renewable Energy Technology Skills and 2 years of M. Voc in Smart Power System Skills. The course structure and practices are designed to prepare the students for the World Skill competition. Recently we have successfully conducted training programs like HILTI employees and TOT of Fitter Electrician Trade (ITI), Patna, Bihar.

What are the factors that make this program and Bhartiya Skill Development University the best for the students to opt for?

There are many factors first of all we are focused on the practical more than the theory and the Lab setups are according to the industrial practices and requirements. The unique feature of BSDU is 60% practical and 40% theory. The concept of the one-student one machine meets up in almost labs which enhances student learning. Students spend one semester in BSDU and one semester in Industry. BSDU follow the multiple entries and multiple exit system according to the NEP 2020, students can get a diploma, advanced diploma, or degree according to their exit level.

The education systems in India and other foreign countries are structured very differently. In your experience, what can an inbound student gain from studying here in your institute/university/ school?

The education system differs everywhere and here at BSDU we give education based on the Swiss Dual system which already adds up the skills of India as well as Switzerland. So, the educated student from BSDU is fully prepared for the practical standards of industrial requirements, startups and even to compete on world-level platforms of World Skill competitions.

What do you think should be the University’s top priority over the next 10 years?

As we have good course content and practical labs according to the industrial requirements so the University should approach multi-National companies for the tie-up so that we can avail of good placements. As the students seek quality education as well as good placements.

What would you like people to know about your university they may not know? What were the challenges that you faced while inculcating this program into your curriculum?

As there are different degrees and courses available in the current education system and people do not consider the B.Voc. a degree as there are different short-term paid courses that are available for the same skills. So, people do not find a key differentiator in terms of employment as B.Voc. is still not eligible for the Govt. scholarships and vacancies.
