Prof. Tanuja Nair is an Assistant Professor at GIBS B-School Bangalore. She is currently pursuing Ph.D. in Marketing under VTU. She has a total of 38 years of experience in academics. She received a patent for “A Method for Assessing the Green Marketing Tools for Promoting the Consumption of Green Products Among the Younger Generation” on 31st March, 2023. She has published a paper titled “Hybrid Mode of Education is the Future” in International Journal of Creative Research Thoughts (IJCRT). She has won the best teacher award in college for the year 2015.

What is the latest program that you are offering in your institute/dept. which will help students outperform and stand apart from the crowd?

We, at Gibs B School, are offering a two-year full-time MBA program. The MBA program is offered with dual specialization. Students can choose any two from finance, marketing, HR, Business Analytics, and Entrepreneurship specializations. The latest program we are offering is Value-added programs like access to MOOC courses from Swayam, NPTEL, Google Scholar, etc., and certification programs in Stock Exchange, Digital Marketing, etc.

Many factors make this program the best for the students to opt for because Holistic development of students during their MBA program. We have a dedicated team of teachers who are always supportive and encouraging towards students. GIBS B-School offers all the latest infrastructure to students like Smart classrooms with AC, Computer labs, a Seminar room, Auditorium, lift facilities, Hygienic washrooms, a gym, indoor and outdoor games, etc. We also have dedicated faculty members who are ever supportive and facilitating to students. A placement officer is there to take care of placement training. Training is especially given in soft skills to develop the overall personality of students. Placement drives are organized regularly during the final semesters wherein companies visit and interview students. Top companies visit the college campus every year. Apart from that, job fairs are also conducted on campus. Gibs B-School follows a mentor-mentee system in which teachers maintain individual records of students (mentor books) and conduct one to one mentoring sessions with students on a regular basis.

We regularly conduct industrial visits for students each semester. We have taken our previous batch of students to visit the Infosys campus, Mysuru, BAMUL, Garuda Foods, etc. Also, on a regular basis, we invite eminent people from the industry for guest lectures and expert talks.

How does the program ensure that students are being prepared for the future?

Through our MBA program, we ensure students are molded for the future by engaging the students actively in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. The co-curricular activities we conduct are classroom activities like case study sessions, mock interviews, quizzes, etc. The extra-curricular activities usually organized are poster-making competitions, cultural activities, sports day, etc.

How did you train yourself/faculty to deliver this program to the students?

I have trained myself to deliver this program by undergoing a post-graduate degree in MBA with a marketing specialization. My MBA is a three-year degree from IGNOU. Presently, I am doing my Ph.D. in Marketing at VTU University. I have 13 years of teaching experience and have handled subjects not only in my domain of marketing but also in HR and core subjects of my MBA. Besides, I have guided students in their projects also. Also, I have completed certification programs from NPTEL and Swayam in marketing management and digital marketing with elite scores.

What are the types of projects that the students are working on through this program?

Students undergo two types of projects as part of their MBA program. One is an internship project which is an organizational study and the other is the major project wherein students have to do research on any problem a company is facing and come up with recommendations and suggestions.

What are the benefits and career options after pursuing this course?

Students have better career options and benefits after pursuing an MBA. A postgraduate degree will fetch them better jobs in the industry. As students undergo dual specialization in MBA. They can land a job in any of the chosen specializations.
