How do you tend to establish healthy relations with the students and fellow faculty?
By interacting with each and every student and following up with them regarding their academic progress, as well as with outside and other extracurricular activities, we try to establish healthy relations. We provide guidance through mentorship, embrace diversity and maintain professional boundaries when it comes to our faculty members. Our college strives for continual improvement in relationships through feedback, assessment, and reflection.
What are the best practices offered by the department to the students which help them gain necessary skills?
We believe in enhancing the students’ skills by offering different certificate courses, industry visits, expert knowledge sessions, and workshop exposures. We have integrated skill development into the curriculum through experiential learning and project-based approach to our teaching. The college has established mentorship programs and feedback mechanisms for students to assess and improve their skills.
How do you help your student to cope up with the competition being so high in the outside world?
We give all the opportunities to our students that come as invitations to participate in the fests of other colleges or competitions within the college. We also encourage a growth mindset and resilience, and we provide stress management skills. Our teachers guide the students with goal setting and offer support networks. Moreover, we emphasise self-improvement over comparison, foster essential skills, and celebrate achievements.
Do you have any extracurricular activities/programs to enhance the skills of the students or expose them to real-world challenges?
There are several platforms for the students in our institutions to participate in. "Spectrum" is one such platform where students get to exhibit their innate talents and be prepared for the outside. Fests and competitions within the college also foster healthy competition among the students. We organise exhibitions and talk sessions by inviting local small and medium industrialists and women entrepreneurs to provide them with a platform to showcase their products, services, and ideas on the college campus. CC and EC activities provide a platform for the broadening of one’s horizon, inculcation of values, learning to relate to and deal with others, exercising participatory leadership, etc. The college provides rich opportunities in the form of associations clubbed with dedicated staff for training and guiding you.
When you came to the college, what was your vision and how are you trying to achieve the same?
To bring out the best in our students, we work at identifying, tapping into their innate talents and moulding the future of the youth. We want our students to have strong ethical values and a sound educational foundation. Our vision is to instill in the students that greatness is achieved by doing one’s duty from moment to moment and that success is a reward of ambition, hard work and concentration.
