How do you try to bring in a practical approach towards subjects and make it industry-oriented?

Singing is a type of art and flute is one of the accompanies to this type of art. This is only possible through practical knowledge but that shouldn't be restricted to classrooms and the students should also be self motivated to pick up the flute and teach it themselves, the song that comes out of a flute might be the same for everyone but everyone has a different approach.

What are the challenges you faced/ are facing to uplift the quality of education of your department?

Problems are everywhere. One of the main problems in this university is distance from the main city, so we are trying to teach them online whenever possible and we urge them to come into the campus as online mode messes up rhythms and certain aspects which can only be taught offline.

What do you see as UUC’s greatest strengths?

This is a one of a kind university across India when it was first opened to teach musical arts and other forms of arts and culture as well as give degrees to the students to rediscover their potential. This is proudful university with a long heritage and a big enough campus to sustain our culture.

How did UUC operate during COVID 19 and what strategies were formulated and used to keep education ongoing? Are any of those strategies still in effect?

During covid, we faced a lot of issues especially for music. Online is not the proper method of teaching but we had to adapt ourselves, we sent out recordings to students and monitored them through video sessions. Even today some of these are still in effect due to its ease of access and convenience. Covid taught us how to do online classes.

What valuable advice would you like to the students for them to have a prosperous career ahead?

Take your teachers' words and teachings to your hearts and keep practicing on them. Be interested in music, learn, experiment and practice. My only request to all students is to be rigorously studious towards their subjects and keep communicating with your peers to learn and teach them at the same time.
