Mrs. Randeep Dhoot is working as a Head of Department of Political Science at Shanti Devi Arya Mahila College, Dinanagar. She has done M.A, M.Phil, NET(UGC) and has been serving the institution for more than 20 years. Presently, she is designated as IQAC Coordinator, Incharge of College Alumni Association and Youth Red Cross Unit of the college. She has to her credit more than 15 Research papers published in various national and International journals. She has published a book on Local self Government in India. She is the recipient of a state award given by Indian Red Cross Society, Chandigarh. She has edited two conference proceedings of UGC sponsored seminars namely I. Human Rights Education II. Foreign Policy of India: Continuity and Change. She has also presented papers in various national and international conferences and seminars. Apart from this, she is a member of Board of studies(PG), faculty of Arts and Social Sciences of Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar.

What is the latest program that your institute offers which will help students outperform and stand apart from the crowd?

BA is a three-year undergraduate program that strives to give students a wide understanding of humanities and social sciences through its diverse specializations. BA can be pursued in various disciplines such as English Elective, Punjabi Elective, Hindi Elective, Sanskrit Elective, Physical Education, Education, Home Science, Political Science, History, Economics, Fine Arts, Computer Application, Sociology, Psychology, FDGC, Maths, Music (Vocal), Public Administration, Drug Abuse. BA Social studies is the latest course that has been introduced in our college. It is a three year full time undergraduate degree programme. It is divided into six semesters over a period of three years. This degree covers deep study of subjects like Political Science, Public Administration, History, Sociology, Economics, Geography, Computer, Science and Technology, Reasoning, Current affairs of India and World, Media and Journalism etc.

What are the factors that make this program the best for the students to opt?

By opting for this course, students become capable of qualifying for competitive exams. It enhances students’ communication skills. They can get jobs in the public sector and pursue their career in the teaching profession.

How does the program ensure that students are being prepared for the future?

The primary purpose of Social studies is to help young students to be informed about the universe and to make them able to make reasoned decisions for the public good as citizens of a culturally diverse, democratic society in an Interdependent world. Students learn about government, political ideas, country’s economy and resources and more. Students gain political skills by analyzing and evaluating existing systems and imaging the future of the place in which they live.

How did you train yourself/faculty to deliver this program to the students?

Faculty members update themselves by reading latest books, e-books, e-journals and using digital aids. They attend refresher courses, orientation programs, national and International conferences/workshops on the latest topics.
