Being a Faculty of the MBA Department, what are your roles and responsibilities towards the students?

As a faculty member in the MBA department, my roles and responsibilities towards the students are diverse and crucial in shaping their educational and professional development. I am responsible for providing a structured and engaging learning experience that fosters critical thinking and practical application of concepts. I am responsible for building connections with the business community and industry leaders to facilitate internships, guest lectures, and networking opportunities for students. Overall, my role as an MBA faculty member is not just limited to imparting knowledge but also involves shaping students into well-rounded individuals with the skills and mindset required to succeed in their careers and contribute positively to society.

How do you tend to establish healthy relations with the students and fellow faculty?

I generally give that space and freedom to students to come up with doubts and I try my best to never disappoint them in answering them. Also, I maintain good relations with faculty by discussing various topics like subjects, events, anything related to students, research papers etc.

How do you try to bring in a practical approach towards subjects and make it industry-oriented?

Bringing a practical and industry-oriented approach to subjects is crucial for preparing students to excel in real-world scenarios. I Incorporate case studies, real-world examples, and anecdotes from relevant industries into lessons. This helps students connect theoretical concepts with practical applications and understand how concepts are used in different contexts. I Invite guest speakers from relevant industries to share their experiences, insights, and challenges with students. This provides a direct link between the classroom and the real world. I collaborate with local businesses or organizations to provide students with internship opportunities. I organize field trips to relevant workplaces, factories, labs, or industry events. This gives students the chance to see firsthand how concepts are applied in real-world settings. I design assignments that require students to research and analyze current trends, innovations, and challenges within specific industries. This encourages them to stay updated on industry developments. I collaborate with industry partners to create group projects that address real challenges faced by the industry. This encourages teamwork and provides students with exposure to practical problem-solving. By implementing these strategies, create a classroom environment that not only imparts theoretical knowledge but also equips students with the practical skills and mindset needed to thrive in the industry.

What are the best practices offered by the department to the students which help them gain necessary skills?

Our college is providing CRT training to students where the topics are related to current trends in companies. At the department level, there is a students association in mba called WINGS, a platform where students build up their soft skills by participating in various events.

How do you strategize the curriculum and how often it gets updated to make it befitting for the students?

Strategizing and updating the curriculum is a dynamic process that requires careful planning and regular assessment. We conduct a comprehensive needs assessment to understand the current trends, demands, and challenges in the field. This might involve industry surveys, employer feedback, alumni input, and analysis of emerging technologies. We clearly define the learning outcomes for the students to achieve for each course. These outcomes should align with the skills, knowledge, and competencies students need to succeed in the field. We ensure that the curriculum is aligned with industry standards and practices. Regularly engage with industry experts, advisory boards, and professionals to gather insights and validate the relevance of the courses. We integrate practical components such as case studies, projects, and hands-on activities that allow students to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world scenarios. We believe updating the curriculum should be a continuous and iterative process. By remaining proactive, responsive to industry changes, and open to feedback, we can ensure that the curriculum remains relevant and beneficial for students’ learning and future careers.

What are your views on the placements and higher education of the students from your department or how does your department prepare students for higher education?

We are actually encouraging students to attempt the UGC examination where they can actually do their Ph.D. if they pass it. We are also connecting our students with Alumni so they can get jobs and career guidance from them.

How do you help your student to cope with the competition being so high in the outside world?

Helping students cope with high competition in the outside world is a multifaceted endeavor that involves a combination of academic, personal, and emotional support. We encourage a growth mindset among students, emphasizing that challenges and failures are opportunities for growth. Teach them strategies for building resilience, managing stress, and maintaining a positive outlook. We provide opportunities for students to develop not only academic skills but also essential soft skills like communication, critical thinking, problem-solving, and adaptability. These skills can set them apart in a competitive environment. We assign mentors or advisors who can provide guidance, share their experiences, and help students develop strategies to navigate competition. Mentors can offer insights into how to approach challenges and make informed decisions. We offer opportunities for students to engage with real-world scenarios through internships, projects, case studies, and partnerships with industries. We remember that supporting students in coping with high competition is an ongoing process that requires a combination of academic support, mentorship, emotional well-being, and practical skills. We try to create an environment where students can thrive and succeed despite external challenges.

Do you have any extracurricular activities/ programs to enhance the skills of the students or expose them to real-world challenges?

As I already mentioned, there is a students association named WINGS, the students under that association conduct various activities where students train themselves better. We send them for internships for practical exposure.
