Mr. Prem Kumar Dua is the HOD at Govindram Seksaria Institute Of Management & Research. He passed his B.Com from Vikram University, Ujjain and LL.B from Devi Ahilya Vishwa Vidyalaya. Further, he has also obtained a Chartered Accountant degree from The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, New Delhi. He is a Co-Author (with CA Sanjay M Katiyal) of “ACCOUNTING FOR MANAGER” a book published by Kitab Mahal, New Delhi.

Tell us about your experience in the Education Industry.

My experience in the education industry spans over 30 years, combining both academic and corporate expertise. I have served as a Faculty of Finance at various institutions, including IBMR and IPS Academy in Indore, teaching subjects such as Financial Accounting, Management Accounting, Cost Accounting, Taxation, and Financial Management. Additionally, I have been a visiting faculty member at leading management institutes in Indore, including Vaishnav, IMS, and IIPS, and I’m presently associated with Symbiosis University of Applied Sciences, Indore. Currently, I hold a position as a Faculty of Finance at GSIMR, where I also serve as the Head of the Corporate Relationship Cell, responsible for Training and Placement activities. My corporate experience includes serving as an Independent Financial Consultant, handling financial services, NPA management, project finance, and more. I’ve also held the role of General Manager (Finance & Accounts) at Reliance Industries Ltd. for almost 11 years, managing various financial and commercial functions. Additionally, I served as the General Manager (Finance & Accounts) at APTICRAFT SYSTEMS (P) LTD., a global software development company.

What is your philosophy of leadership?

A leader’s philosophy serves as the guiding light, shaping their actions and decisions while offering a framework for their leadership style. This philosophy, when strong and well-defined, delivers a clear and consistent message to those under their guidance. It must strike a balance between aspiration and reality, inspiring others to reach greatness while remaining attainable within the given circumstances. A strong leadership philosophy empowers both the leader and their team, fostering a shared vision and a sense of purpose that propels them toward success.

How does the curriculum of your college ensure best practices?

Our educational approach combines the DAVV curriculum with a parallel emphasis on skill-based learning, encompassing soft skills and IT proficiency. In addition to traditional coursework, we integrate best practices such as Mock Interview sessions throughout each semester. This approach equips our students not only with academic knowledge but also with practical skills and confidence, preparing them comprehensively for their future careers. It fosters a well-rounded education that addresses both theoretical and real-world demands, ensuring our graduates are not only academically proficient but also adept at navigating professional challenges and interviews.
