Mrs. Bindu Solanki is the Head of the Department of the Malwa Institute of Science and Technology. She has over 13 years of work experience, of which 11 have been in academia. She has worked at numerous institutes, such as the Prashanti Institute of Technology and Science and the Shri Vaishnav Institute of Technology and Science. Mrs. Solanki has also worked at Scientific Mes- Technique Pvt. Ltd as a Production Engineer. Besides her academic duties and responsibilities, she also attends and organizes workshops and seminars in her area of expertise.
What is the latest program that you are offering in your MIST in your dept which will help students outperform and stand apart from the crowd?
Apart from our regular courses, we are providing various certification courses to our students like artificial intelligence, data science, machine learning, ethical hacking and cyber security. Students have to complete these certificate courses along with their degree courses. These certifications help in enhancing the profile of the students. In order to achieve employment opportunities in their field, a good profile with the necessary skill sets is of utmost importance. Students have varied knowledge, are more marketable, and get better opportunities for career advancements.
What are the factors that make this program the best for the students to opt?
Electronics and communication are the backbone of the modern communication system. In the present context, modern applications like the Internet of Things (IoT), Robotics, and Embedded Systems are highly dependent on the knowledge of ECE. One of the prime objectives of an ECE program is to equip students with the necessary core competencies in order to succeed in life after completing them. After completing our engineering course, there are numerous opportunities to build a career. An individual can make their career in the IT industry, embedded systems, in defence, telecommunications, electronic and hardware manufacturing, software development, power sector, TV and music industry, and automobiles, among others.
What are the best practices in the course you are offering?
In our Electronics and Communication department, we are focusing on improving the practical knowledge of our students by establishing project-based learning. It involves students in designing, developing and constructing hands-on solutions to the problem. We also hold continuous internal evaluation, and methodologies to support weak students by providing them with extra doubt sessions.
What are some valuable insights of the program that you are offering at your institute?
An Electronics and Communication program offers a wide range of valuable insights and skills to students who pursue it. These insights can be both theoretical and practical, and they prepare students for careers in various industries. Students gain fundamental knowledge of electronics and communication systems. They understand digital and analog electronics, where students explore digital logic design, microcontrollers, and digital signal processing. We provide them with the skills to work with digital systems and devices. The study of analog electronics includes amplifiers, filters, and analog signal processing, where students work with analog circuits and systems. This gives students hands-on experience working in their field and prepares them for placements.

How does the program ensure that students are being prepared for the future?
Besides regular classes, we hold various sessions that focus on teaching soft skills like communication, teamwork, leadership, critical thinking and problem-solving. We arrange expert lectures on a regular basis with industry experts for students as well as for faculty. There are regular industrial visits and webinars that make the students connect with the live and practical approach of the industry. We also organize workshops that promote the skills of the students which are required by the industries like leadership, communication, team spirit, and adaptability. We have well-equipped laboratories, design projects, industrial visits and many other tools to further assist us in this endeavour.
What are the types of projects that the students are working on through this program?
Our students work on various projects that they pick based on their interests and career goals. Some such projects are IoT-based home automation, voice-controlled assistants, gesture recognition systems, wireless communication, and robotics projects: edge detector robots, obstacle detector robots, line detector robots, smart train engines, GPS tracking systems and raspberry pi-based projects.
