The FIR was registered due to a letter sent by RGPV Registrar Mohan Sen to the Gandhi Nagar police station. It has listed four individuals within and outside the University as its major suspects for financial crime, embezzlement and fraud.
New Delhi: Madhya Pradesh CM Mohan Yadav has initiated an investigation into the alledged financial misconduct at the Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya (RGPV). He has directed officials to immediately file an FIR in this regard and to suspend the financial accounting department of the University.
Four suspects, including Vice Chancellor of RGPV Sunil Kumar, have been marked in the case involving the embezzlement of INR 19.48 crore and the creation of false fixed deposits (FDs) worth INR 100 crore.
CM Yadav tweeted about the allegations on March 03, 2024. Stating that “An incident of financial irregularities going on in Rajiv Gandhi Technological University has come to my notice”, Yadav mentioned his intentions to have an FIR registered, remove all the officers posted in RGPV’s finance branch, and have a high-level committee inquire in the matter.

The case was registered against RGPV’s VC Kumar, Former Registrar RS Rajput, Financial Controller Rishikesh Verma, former Registrar RS Rajput, and an institution under one Mayank Kumar, named Dalit Sangh. The police added sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for criminal conspiracy, cheating, and forgery. It also added relevant provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
A high-level committee has been tasked with conducting a thorough investigation into the matter.
The case has prompted a reevaluation of financial oversight mechanisms within universities, emphasizing the need for stringent checks and balances to prevent future malfeasance.
As the investigation progresses, its findings are expected to influence policy decisions and governance frameworks within the education sector, with a focus on upholding transparency and accountability.
The FIR was registered due to a letter from Mohan Sen, current Registrar of RGPV, to the Gandhi Nagar police station, Bhopal citing allegations of embezzlement. No arrests have been made yet.
