BIMTECH Marks 36th Foundation Day with Celebration

New Delhi: Birla Institute of Management Technology (BIMTECH) has successfully marked its 36th Foundation Day with significant celebration. Social entrepreneur and Magsaysay Award recipient, Anshu Gupta, founder of Goonj, was the chief guest during the event, who highlighted the importance of charity that strives for sustainable empowerment rather than fostering dependency.

As the chief guest at the 36th Foundation Day of BIMTECH, Gupta stressed the need to value education and respect the dignity of every individual. He pointed out that subsidies should be seen as opportunities, not entitlements, and encouraged giving back to enrich society. Gupta emphasized that education, being one of the most enduring subsidies, should be accessible to all in the global community.

While addressing the BIMTECH faculty and students, Gupta mentioned that he hailed from a family of engineers, known for their unwavering commitment to education despite limited financial resources. He noted that his family prioritized education as a significant investment, even at the expense of luxuries like buying a car.

Gupta also shared how his upbringing in a resolute family with modest means exposed him to life's intricacies, teaching him that challenges manifest in diverse ways.

BIMTECH initiated a three-day celebration starting from September 30th and extending through October 1st. The event featured remarkable performances, including one by the National School of Drama Repertory group, presenting the drama "Maaee Ree Main Kaa Se Kahun," directed by Ajay Kumar.

Further, the Asmita Theatre Group from New Delhi delivered a captivating performance of "Andha Yug," directed by Arvind Gaur.

Harivansh Chaturvedi, the Director of BIMTECH, expressed in a statement that Mahatma Gandhi's eleven principles, encompassing truth, nonviolence, simplicity, and a sense of duty towards humanity, continue to hold immense relevance, not only in India but on a global scale.

BIMTECH's decision to commence the celebration on October 2nd, Gandhi's birthday, signifies his enduring influence.

During the event, BIMTECH also presented various awards, including the Basant Kumar Birla Distinguished Scholar Award for 2022 and the Best Researcher and Teaching Excellence Award for 2022.
