Why the Clash Matters for Students

Practical marks count towards the final Class 12 result. Missing a practical exam can lower a student’s aggregate score. At the same time, JEE Main is crucial for engineering admissions across India. Students cannot appear for both exams if they are scheduled on the same day.

Both states send lakhs of candidates to JEE Main every year. The clash could affect a large number of students. Parents and student groups have raised the issue online and are seeking a schedule review from the NTA.

How Can Students Address the Schedule Clash?

Students can approach their school principal and request a practical exam rescheduling. Schools may write to the respective board for a fresh practical date. Students can also raise a grievance on the NTA portal.

The NTA has granted slot changes on the basis of documented proof in previous years. However, board officials in both states have not issued a formal response yet. A revised practical calendar may be released before December 2026. Students should keep their admit cards and date sheets ready.

Why This Matters

JEE Main has clashed with state board exams before. In 2021 the paper overlapped with Maharashtra Class 12 preparatory tests. The board rescheduled preparatory exams for affected candidates then.

Action Plan for Candidates

  1. Check your practical date sheet on the school notice board.
  2. Match each practical date with your JEE Main 2027 admit card slot.
  3. Write a formal request to your school principal for rescheduling.
  4. Submit a grievance on the NTA portal at jeemain.nta.nic.in.
  5. Track notices at wbchse.wb.gov.in and mahahsscboard.in for board updates.
Keep an Eye On

Watch NTA and state board sites for revised schedule notices. The JEE Main 2027 application window will open soon.
