- Campus: Campus is huge, UL is the 2nd largest in Ireland after UCD in terms of size. Surrounded by trees, lakes, fountains and lawns.
- Good Professors: I had a pleasure to interact with many great professors such as Dr Nikola S. Nikolov and Dr Ciarán Eising, who also mentored for my Master's thesis.
- Learning Materials: We had access to great leraning facilities both Online learning, Library services, Learning Hubs, academic support etc
Dislikes
- Subjects: There were specific subjects which were not much related to my interest and carrier growth, but I had no option to choose different subjects, for instance AI for Games.
- Access to hardware: As a senior Machine learning and AI Engineer (Nvidia) I know how much important is the access to servers and clusters which were not provided to us during the course of my masters, we had to reply on personal laptops and Google collab for running experiments.
- Faculty: Some faculty were not that expert in the respective fields and it was a bit difficult to follow them, we also made a formal complaint to the director (Dr Nikola) about this and he ensured to fix this for the future batches so hopefully this will be resolved.
Campus Life
- There are many buildings on the UL campus and the specifics can be found on the UL website: https://www.ul.ie/style-guide/word-use-and-spelling/ul-place-names.
- For my courses I visited the buildings below.
- Computer Science Building
- Glucksman Library and information building
- Foundation Building
- Kemmy Business School
- Engineering Research Building
- Yes, UL has all sorts of facilities a student can imagine. Sports, Gym, Swimming pool, Grounds for sports like football and hurling, the postgraduate students union building, the Stables club for hangouts, Medical facilities, Coffee shops, Restaurants, Snacks counters like Spar.
- For Indians, UL had organised a Diwali party and a Holi celebration. Majorly happens at Stables club.
- All students are open to participate in many events across the campus for a number of sports, including football, archery, badminton, martial arts, swimming, rowing, boxing, etc.
Fees
- My full fees were 14000 Euros, I did not stay in the UL hostel campus but from my friends I know it varies depending on the Hostel type and facility you choose and for 1 year it is from 7000 to 10000 Euros. Other expenses are food and travel, which are roughly 200 to 300 Euro per month. You also need student health insurance, which was around 400 Euros for a year
- For us it was half-yearly; at the beginning we had to pay half of the fees i.e 7000 Euros and later after the first semester.
- My rent was 350 Euros, Electricity + Wifi - 50 Euros, Food - 150 Euros, I had a bicycle so never used public transport, but for students, travel on public transport is cheaper since we get a student travel card (Leap card) so 0.65 Euros each time we travel so roughly 10 euros a month. In total 560 Euros each month could be the expenses. Also, Limerick is cheap as compared to Dublin.

Likes
- Brilliant and very accommodating professors they are always ready to help you guide and also appreciate your work .
- Scholarship opportunities - University of Limerick provides excellent up to 60% university fee waiver even I got 60% off my fee and it helped me cover the education costs very easily.
- Campus is huge and has all the amenities such as Spar and stationary and also BOI on campus.
Dislikes
- There is more emphasis of research in the course
- It is a short program but they try to squeeze in a lot of subjects that makes it quite overwhelming although the teachers are quite supportive
- Not a lot of community programs for international students.
Campus Life
- Our campus had one location that was in Limerick it had all the amenities: a gym, a sports center, playground and all other facilities such as an on-campus Spar and Bank and also a stationery place. They had the best campus in Ireland; there was ample space for everything and they had a huge library too, which always attracted students to study. All in all, they had the best campus and we had everything to facilitate our education and well-being.
Fees
- Full fees were 6250 euros after the scholarship and around 4500 euros for campus accommodation this is yearly.
- Rent: 450-500 euros p.m
- Transportation - I used to stay in college campus but it is usually 1 euro around for a 90 mins on bus using the leap card
- Food and groceries -200 euros p.m
- This varies on the accommodation and the amount of cooking you do at the house.

Dislikes
- Lack of support for placements. it would have been if they had more career fair or a placement portal.
Campus Life
- When it comes to campus life, I might not be the best person to comment, as I’m more of an introvert and i didn’t spend much time attending parties or participating in extracurricular activities. However, I can say that there are plenty of options available for those who are interested.
Fees
- 19000 euro (2000 was waived through scholarship).

Likes
- College Infrastructure
- Professors and their way of teaching
- Affordable living on-campus
Dislikes
- There is nothing to dislike about the University of Limerick. Everything is so perfect apart from some unknown incidents that happen on-campus late at night but that is something that the faculty cannot do anything about as it is an open university and one has to be vigilant enough to take care of oneself.
Campus Life
- The University of Limerick has only one campus with a variety of colleges within it, covering different fields.
- A number of facilities are available on campus, which include the UL library, sports arena, medical service centre, student union club, PSU, cafes and restaurants, etc.
- UL celebrates each country's festival like its own, whether it's Diwali or the Lunar Year.
- A lot of extracurricular activities happen on campus, like the 10 km marathon for sports enthusiast, swimming competitions, and cultural events like Diwali, Lunar Year, Halloween Party, Ball Night, etc. conducted by the student organization also known as PSU.
Fees
- The fee structure breakdown is as follows: 1500 euros were my scholarship fees, 8500 euros were my entire year's accommodation fees and tuition fees were 16000 euros.
- The fees charged were as per your preference. I preferred to pay all together.
- The estimate of monthly expenses depends upon the individual preference as to how he wants to spend as per the limited budget decided or lavishly. But for a person coming from a humble background, 1000 euros per month would be sufficient which includes accommodation rent, food and some shopping. For transportation, a student leap card is advised to be made as soon as you enter Ireland which makes you save some of your expenses along with a PPSN which helps you get a part-time job (works as a government ID which helps to track your taxes that you pay to the government).

Likes
- Cost of living and tuition fee was the most important factor, 2nd was that ireland was an English speaking country, 3rd was the curriculum of my course - was pretty different from all the other management courses.
- I like that UL gives you an international experience at an affordable price. You get to meet people from different countries and get a peek into the charming Irish culture. The faculty is great and really give their best to retain the quality of the UL brand as such.
Dislikes
- I dislike the disinterest of the university in getting their students proper affordable accommodation. I had a very bad experience in terms of finding accommodation in Limerick. And that was my main reason for leaving Ireland as well.
Overview
UL was a breath of fresh air. It was a one off experience for me that I'll never have again in my life. That said, I really think the university can do better in terms of checking on their international students in terms of accommodation and actually bringing in the concept of placement. If these 2 can be taken care of, I think it'd become the most sought after university in Europe.
Campus Life
I think UL stands out till date for me, not particularly for the degree education, but more for the extra curricular aspect of it. Everyday there'd be something going on in the campus at some corner. With marvelous infrastructure and a plethora of events happening in every nook and corner, you are bound to get yourself involved and will eventually fall in love with campus life. I was part of International society, Music club and table tennis club and loved my time in all of them. The UL library and sports facilities are amongst the best in Ireland, so if you have an eye for these I'm sure UL is your place to be.
Likes
- The campus and student life in my university is great and the cost of living is better in limerick comparing to the capital city Dublin.
Overview
My overall experience was great because this is the first time I came out from my home town and had to lead an independent life. If you are confident about yourself and have some patience in everything, you'll have a great life here regardless of the University you're choosing.
Campus Life
If you're looking for a great campus life, I'll say that UL is one of the best in campus life.
Overview
I have chosen this university because this is one of the top universities of Ireland with so much facilities and I have gone through various researches as well so I found this university to be good for me.
Campus Life
The study life and campus life were good with a very new experience. There are very good and peaceful library facilities available here. For co-curricular activities the university offers the biggest cub of Ireland, the biggest sports facilities, the biggest swimming club, etc. there are huge facilities available for us.
Overview
There are various websites like Study in Ireland. There are Facebook groups like Study in Ireland with respect to the particular year. There are various consultants on the groups and they also help us. They don't charge any fees.
Campus Life
There are various facilities like libraries. Libraries are pretty good. The books are both in digital form and hard copy. There is also a facility to borrow laptops and you need to book them because there are limited laptops. University offers various opportunities. You can be an International Student Ambassador. For that, you need to apply for the interview. There are various clubs and societies as well. So, you can have Indian clubs and societies, Astronomical clubs and societies. There are various Tour groups for trips in Ireland at a discounted rate. So, it's quite cheap. There are various groups with respect to the games as well like Football groups, Cricket groups, etc. I was part of Tour club and society and Indian club and society. Also, I was Indian Student Ambassador and Class Representative.
Overview
Affordable cost of living and low tuition fees. The content of the program was perfect for me.
Fees
13500 Euros is the program fee.
Overview
I chose the institute because of the good reviews as well as because it was recommended by my agent.
Fees

Managing PhD supervisors requires balancing diverse opinions and expectations. You typically have a main supervisor and possibly assistant supervisors who offer additional expertise. Clear communication about expectations is crucial at the beginning. Keeping detailed notes from meetings helps in navigating differing advice. Building strong relationships is vital; research potential supervisors beforehand and attend university events to assess compatibility.
If conflicts arise, address them directly with evidence-based discussions. Maintain professionalism, even when faced with challenges, as good relationships can lead to collaborations, job recommendations, and mentorship opportunities, significantly enhancing your PhD experience and future career prospects.
