- The major field program in German Studies has three areas of concentration: The linguistic component of the program deals with the structure and development of the German language, its variants and varieties (dialects, registers, styles), its use in texts and in oral interaction, and its cognitive processing.
- An overview of all the subjects that can be taken in combination with subject Ancient Civilization Studies by students who started their B.A. degree program in the winter semester 2013/14 or later:

School certificates (original or officially certified copy and a certified translation)
DSH (result 2 or 3) or TestDaF (with a score of at least 4 on all four parts of the test) or the Goethe-certificate C2 or the 2nd level language certificate from the Conference of the Ministry of Education and the Arts or Telc C1 Hochschule.
Evidence of German language proficiency at B2 level is required for an application for Studienkolleg.
