Course Curriculum

10

  • The course was very well set up. As I came from an engineering background and didn’t have any fundamentals for finance. But the professors were very helpful in explaining the concepts in a very easy way. More positives than negatives, I would say. Maybe some courses were a bit too hard to grasp given the absence of financial fundamentals.
  • The number of courses was max 2 per day in the morning and in the afternoon. The average number of students were 60 I would say. In my course there were 6 Indians, including me.

Admission Experience

  • Vlerick Business School, Essec. I was accepted by Vlerick Business School and I even received a grand scholarship. But to me at the time, Edhec was a much more sensible option because of its reputation, curriculum, international platform and, of course, the scholarship. Essec did not work out, and neither did Warwick nor the London School of Economics. Not sure; maybe because my education profile lacked financial fundamentals.
  • The fee was payable, as I got a huge scholarship; the ranking was also very good. Edhec has a great reputation at the big banks here in Paris, as there have been many successful hires in the past. I had a great experience at Edhec as everyone was very supportive there. I had used GRE as my entrance exam. The admission is fairly simple, as you use your past academic records, a motivation letter and pay the application fees. If chosen, you have an interview sometimes, and then you get the final decision.
  • I believe the intake for my course was the one in fall. It started in September. As I explained before, the reputation, scholarship and curriculum were the ones that attracted me. The process took about 2-3 months from application to receiving the offer letter. It took another 5 months until I received the scholarship letter, as it was given, and I believe in cycles. The process was fairly simple, starting with the application where you fill out details, submit your documents and then pay the application fees. For some schools you get an interview as well. And then you wait for their decision.

Faculty

10

  • I would say there were multiple faculties for multiple courses. Even if I don’t have an exact estimate, the attention to students was very good. Never faced a problem there. They were very friendly. The teaching method was very good, as many of them were industry experts. So they could give us real-world scenarios and feedback.
  • I won’t say they help personally in finding jobs. What makes them stand out is how they bring industry to the classroom while being very friendly.

Campus Life

10

  • Edhec has 3 campuses as I know in France. I was in the Nice campus. It's also present in Lille and Paris.
  • All sports, dining, cafeteria and open space facilities are available in the university itself. A decent library as well.
  • There’s a freshers night; we had Diwali celebrated too. There are other events organised by the university and student communities.
  • There are student organisations in publishing editorials, then festivals as I said, etc.

Part Time Jobs

  • I don’t really have any information about it, as I was never interested in it. But I do know that there were people who opted for it. There was an initiative by Edhec called Scientific Beta. There were people working across some international centres too. But that's all the information I have. Hence, I am sure that students can try to reach out to some professors who work there.
  • Not everybody works part-time. Some do but most do not, as there isn’t a lot of time left after university. So I don’t think I am very well suited to answer this question, as I myself never did it. But anyone who needs it can do so under strict visa limits, as students are not authorised to work beyond certain hours, as far as I understand. That’s all I can say.

Placement

8

  • Mostly 90% and above of students do find an internship or a full-time job right after graduation or they have secured one even before that. The average salary in the Paris region would be north of 50k euros.
  • People apply online or they get an offer from where they interned. Some examples would be Transaction services at Grant Thornton, Audit in KPMG and Operations at AllOptions, etc. All big banks and financial services firms do hire from here.

Accommodation

Off Campus
8

  • I got an accommodation opted for by my scholarship agency. It was off campus and it was 3 tram stops from the university so not very far, as it took around 10-12 mins.
  • The monthly rent was 250 euros and it included all the facilities with a shared kitchen and private washroom. The university also helps you find accommodations across the city. So you can directly contact the university before reaching here. Indians are spread across the city.

Exams

  • I used GRE as my entrance examination. But I don’t think it was mandatory. Some schools require an additional exam and some don’t. It depends on their requirements.
  • Yes, SOP, LOR, CV and past academic inscriptions are all required for it. No for EDHEC I didn’t give an interview but for Vlerick I had an interview. So again, as I said, the interview is not required for every university.

Fees

  • The fees were between 24 and 25k euros. For the hostel I paid 250 euros per month. Then there are tram annual cards with a 50% discount for students. I believe the tram fare was 75-80 euros per month.
  • The fees charged were payable in 3 instalments. Once at the beginning, once at the end of the year and once at the end. Other expenses could be around 100-150 euros depending on your lifestyle.

Scholarship

  • Yes, I did receive the scholarship called the Eiffel scholarship sponsored by the french government. The criterion is that you have to be an international student and then there are other income criteria in the application form.
  • There should be a well-presented form and also a motivation letter. The university helps you with it. I don’t know anyone else who received it. During my year, around 350-400 people received it, as I had seen the list. It was 1181 euros at the time per month.
