What Students Say
Likes
- Very supportive and helping Career center, providing range of support from helping you with your Cv, to hosting various career fairs from different Industries like Luxury, tech, gaming to help you interact with industry experts right on campus
- Very Helpful International Student Office, helping you right from the beginning you have your admissions confirmed to everything while you are as a student and even afterwards. They helped me out right from Visa, visa renewal and even contacting prefecture on behalf of me for multiple occasions. They are like your "Go-to support system" for literally everything like which sim to get, which housing agency are good which are not, what areas to look like everything you can possibly think of.
- Very good academic and practical learning blend of coursework where each and every course your study is involved with a industry case study or project where you basically work with industry experts to solve real world problems. One such i did was with Amazon to solve the problem of "how to increase young people under 25 age to drive to the amazon france website and shop more there"
Dislikes
- The language barrier is something one should work, I know this is not specific to the college but is more specific to France so I suggest anyone who is coming must start learning French and especially the ability to converse
- There is nothing to be disliked about in my experience and it has been very positive for me so far with all the first year and gap year internships so for me France and EDHEC has been a very learning experience and growing as a person.
Course Curriculum
- The course curriculum is very easy to follow and everything is available online and is accessible. the course is very well mixed of Academic and Practical.
- You get to learn all the fields of Management in the first year which is good as it gives you a good idea of all fields and make a conscious decision on which field you want to specialise in into your M2 year.
Admission Experience
-
Applied into :-
- Imperial Business School = Accepted
- King's College London = Accepted
- EDHEC Business School = Accepted
- City University = Rejected (This was a simple rejection as they wanted people from diverse background {Different bachelors and not engineering })
- ESCP = Rejected (Round 2- i got panicked as this was my first interview from all the colleges above i applied to and i think that made the jury reject my candidature to the school)
- For me the 3 year course was a perfect opportunity to smoothly transition from my engineering background to management. It allowed me to learn about the management field and even explore different fields like Strategy Consulting, Marketing, Data, HR, etc during my gap year with internships if i was not sure of the filed i want to go into in my M2 or third year as we say.
- WHY EDHEC - this was only college that was offering me a 3 year course as the other schools that i got in had the course in 1 year only and i was not confident that 1 year would be enough for me to transition smoothly and i am glad i made the right decision. It helped me explore other field as well during my First year (M1) if i was not confident with the field i want to specialise in in M2.
- Second, France is very diverse and full of opportunities and very well connected to other EU countries so i had the option to have access to multiple markets and not just the UK and i wanted to keep my options open haha in case.
- There is only one intake that happens in the year that is the fall intake. I applied to round 1 in November 2022 right after i took my GRE and IELTS exams and I had the decision in end of December 2022. So it was very quick for me.
- Mainly application form includes details about your academic and professional journey to the present date you are applying on. All your test scores and everything. Then, you have to submit 2 LOR's in my case it was both academic LOR's. But one can be professional as well.
- Rest it was not too much hectic and you just go on the EDHEC's website when admission opens, fill the forms and pay the application fees with all the documents like Motivation letter, Lor, your cv and test scores
Class Schedule
- Usually classes are 2-3 per day on max level and some days in week you may have no classes at all but you have multiple projects to work on with group and individually so it balances out.
- During my admit 80 students were admitted from India as far i can recall from all over India.
Faculty
- Faculty ratio is very good. Class strength is usually limited to 40 - 50 students (1:49)
- Teaching methodology involves theory and followed by group work which is basically working on a real life project/ situation that helps you build on your concepts that you learned and apply it to real life scenario which is good and most of the concepts that i Studied in my first year are being put to use in my gap year right now in one way or other which obviously translates that the course content is very well aligned to industry standards and what industry is doing right now.
- Yes teachers and faculty do assist students on variety of fronts to help them find jobs and connections in the industry in multiple countries
Campus Life
-
There are variety of Clubs that one can be part of. From Wine tasting club to Rafting clubs there are all sorts of clubs one can be part of and try there hands on.
-
We even have an Indian Students Club call Namaste Francaise which celebrates all major Indian Festivals on the campus helping France and other students better understand the Indian Cuisine and Culture to all students, faculties at EDHEC.
Part Time Jobs
- Usually in my experience students do not take up part time as the curriculum of the course is designed in a manner which does not really leave time for one to engage in Part time opportunities.
- If one wants to take opportunity he or she can do work under professor but it is very rare like in my batch no one i know has taken up part time opportunities
- On a student visa you can work for 964 hours per year in France.
- Usually No Indian does Part Time as i said curriculum of the course is designed in a manner which does not really leave time for one to engage in Part time opportunities because you have multiple group projects and work to do which leaves no time for part time jobs but if one is interested the number of hours per year should be less than 964 hours on a student visa as this is the allowed limit by government on student visa.
Placement
- There is no number with me right now as I am still in the course but usually almost all seniors of mine found employment within 6 months of graduation and some right when they were in second semester.
- Average salary in CDI = 35k (to expect) it can be higher
- Usually students find jobs through Linkedin, career fairs organised by Edhec, Alumni network which is very strong and welcome to jungle.
- All major companies hire graduates from Edhec like Clearstream, BNP paribas, Loreal, Microsoft, Apple, Backmarket, BCG etc etc
Accommodation
- The international Student office helped us find the accommodation as EDHEC has dedicated platform to help students find the accommodation very easily
- They also helped us to make sure that the house we are renting is genuine and not fake or if the area is good to live or not. So, basically there was not so much of a challenge to find the housing.
- I lived on campus and it was a sharing accommodation in which the kitchen was shared between 8 people but you have your own room and private bathroom. You can also choose studio on campus.
- Most Indian usually prefer to stay on campus during first year and later on in M2 year they live outside in city. Also, the rooms on campus are only allotted to students coming for first time to EDHEC.
Exams
-
I took GRE and IELTS for my admissions test. It is not a requirement but i would suggest to take if you can as EDHEC is very well reputed and it will only help you boost your profile a lot and chances of securing a scholarship will increase.
-
Letter of motivation, Passport details, two LOR's on EDHEC's template which is available when you apply in the form, Updated CV, and some certificates of achievement if you have them under you like sport certificate, any competition that you participated in etc.
Fees
- Tuition fees = 44 800 Euros for the whole course to be paid in 4 instalments
- Living expenses per year = 6500 euros which includes living and food for me. it is highly dependent on one's lifestyle but on an average this is the number that most people fall under when coming here.
- Monthly expense = 650 euros per month including rent and food expenses that you incur during the month.
Scholarship
- Yes, I receive the Edhec Academic Excellence Scholarship which you are automatically considered for based on your profile overall when you apply.
- The amount varies from person to person and student to student based on the overall profile.
- Yes, my other batchmates did receive scholarships. There is also scholarship called Women in business that some of my friends received
- I do not have exact number on how many students receive, this varies on lot of factors you can refer for the exact number to Edhec's website
