Course Curriculum

8

  • Course structure was quite easy. There were many projects that we had to do which in my opinion made learning more fun.
  • There were around 4-6 hours of classes everyday depending upon the schedule.
  • There were around 70-80 Indian students in my program in the batch of 800 students.
  • There are typically 45 students in one class and sometimes divided into two depending on the course.

Admission Experience

  • I only applied to 3 colleges which are EDHEC Business School, Cardiff University and Rennes Business School. I did a thorough research before applying to university so I knew my targeted universities. Since I got into EDHEC, I didn’t follow up on other colleges. I would suggest Grand Ecole in France are much better and students should research before applying.
  • I wanted to pursue a Masters in Management program.EDHEC is famous for that program. What made me chose this college is its huge Career Center’s network which helps in getting internships and jobs easily. This was the main reason for choosing EDHEC.
  • The admission process was quite simple. After you apply through the portal, if you are shortlisted you get called up for an video interview(since you are an international student). Based on your profile and your interview, you get selected.
  • EDHEC accepts both GMAT or GRE score(I took GMAT). The eligibility criteria is 600 for GMAT and 300 for GRE. Also, you need to take an English language test, either IELTS or TOEFL. I took the IELTS(criteria is 7.0 and above).
  • Overall admission process was quite smooth and easy. I don’t think there were some issues or challenges throughout the admission process.
  • I applied on 2023 September intake. I applied on EDHEC’s portal in January 2023 and got an interview within 15 days. After three weeks I got the the mail of my application being selected. I had a professional experience of one year and I wanted to pursue masters not that late in my professional life which made me apply for the course beginning in 2023.

Faculty

8

  • There are 45 students on average in each class, and are divided into two depending on the course. For language classes, the number is much lower, like 12-15 students per class.
  • The course structure is practical and aids in getting better jobs in future. The career center provides huge help while searching for internships and jobs. I do admire everyone equally,  nothing favourites

Campus Life

10

  • EDHEC has four campuses. There is one in Lille, one in Nice, one in Paris and one is in Singapore. I studied at the Lille campus. There is a huge library, sports campus includes activities like gym, basketball, volleyball, swimming, badminton, squash, and a dance room. There is a doctor which visits weekly but you have to take appointment beforehand if you want to consult them.
  • For the events, there are many associations but for the majority of them, you need to know French. So it is difficult for Indian students to join them. There is an Indian association also, which organises Diwali and Holi events on campus. There is a sports fair held annually where students from different universities come to compete. So there are many cultural and sporting activities organised throughout the year.

Part Time Jobs

  • There is no teaching assistant position for International students at EDHEC. There could be off campus part time jobs but it’s difficult if you don’t know the language. There are students working in Indian restaurants. The hourly wages by the French Government is 9 euro per hour which is the minimum to be paid and depends on the company if they want to pay more.
  • So, as I mentioned, one can earn 9 euro per hour minimum which is the rule by the French Government. The maximum working hours per week is 40. But as a student you can donate 10-15 hours(majorly on weekends). It is difficult for students to manage both work and student life. In a city like Lille, it is better to go physically in Indian stores and find if there are openings rather than online platforms.

Placement

8

  • Around 90 percent of students find their internships after completing their course. The average salary is 1300 euros but can go up to 1800-1900 euros per month. For the permanent position, a lot of factors including Visa, your performance during internship etc are involved. In France you have to apply through LinkedIn, Jobteaser or other online websites.
  • There are networking sessions organised which provide the opportunity to connect with HR of different companies and know much more about the positions. The major companies are L’Oréal, LVMH, Amazon, BNP Paribas. The major challenge for Indian students is French, that’s why it is really necessary to improve your language skills. EDHEC Career center helps in crafting resumes and interview practices.

Accommodation

Off Campus
8

  • EDHEC has partnered agencies for accommodation. I applied through that. There are other online platforms and real state agents but since I was coming for the first time in France, I trusted EDHEC's partner agency.
  • My rent was 515 euros for a room of 10 square meters. Living in Croix or Roubaix(near to EDHEC campus), the rent can vary from 400-700 euros. I had my private room with a private bathroom but the kitchen was shared among 8 people.( you can have a studio also for a private kitchen too).
  • The challenge one could face is getting electricity connection start as you have to communicate in French with the operator. Some partners do it for you but it’s not always the case. My recommendation would be live in or near the campus as you have to go everyday.
  • Living in Lille city can be more attractive but daily travel would be tiring. I loved inside the campus so it was not the issue(tip: if you want to stay in campus residence, apply early).

Exams

  • One of the exams between GMAT or GRE is essential and one of the English language test, either TOEFL or IELTS, is essential.
  • You require two LORs(ideally one from your bachelors college and one from your manager at work, but if you don’t have professional experience, both from college can also work) and a detailed Statement of Purpose mentioning your expectations from the university.

Fees

  • So the fee structure is semester wise. For the first semester, it was 15000 euros, followed by 12500 euros for next two semesters. Hostel or accommodation fees are not included in this fee structure. Accommodation can vary up to 450 euros to 900 euros on where you live.
  • My monthly expenses approximately were 500 euros for rent, 50-75 euros for transport, 100-120 for groceries and 50-70 euros for miscellaneous activities.

Scholarship

  • I don’t have much idea about scholarships but I believe EDHEC provides 10-20 percent off on the fee structure depending on your profile. I only heard of one of my fellow students getting a scholarship of 10 percent.
  • For getting further to know about scholarships, I believe checking out EDHEC website or contacting their admission team would be much better.
