UCEED Syllabus 2026: Check Part A & Part B Syllabus, Weightage & Previous-year Question Paper

The IIT Bombay will soon release the UCEED Syllabus 2026 PDF. The UCEED 2026 syllabus will be divided into 2 parts, Part A (CBT Mode) and Part B Includes ((Drawing and Design Aptitude Test).

• The UCEED Part A Syllabus will include visualisation & Spatial Reasoning, Practical & Specific Knowledge, Observation & Design Sensitivity, Environment & Society, Analytical & Logical reasoning, and Language & Creativity.
• The UCEED Part A will be of 200 Marks, including 57 Questions in the form of NAT, MSQs and MCQs.
• The UCEED Part B Syllabus will be of 100 Marks, including Drawing of 50 marks and Design Aptitude, which is a new section of 50 Marks.

The UCEED Syllabus 2026 is divided into 2 parts: Part A(CBT) and Part B(Drawing & Design Aptitude Test), which makes the total 300 Marks.

UCEED Syllabus 2026: Part A & Part B

The UCEED Syllabus 2026 includes Part A and Part B. Part A includes Analytical ability, visualisation, Reasoning and Creativity, and Part B includes sketching skills and design aptitude.

UCEED Syllabus 2026: Topic-Wise Syllabus

The UCEED Syllabus 2026 will test the candidate’s analytical ability and creative skills. The UCEED Exam will include different topics from Part A and Part B.

UCEED Syllabus: Visualisation & Spatial Reasoning

• It Includes Understanding 2D and 3D shapes, spatial relationships, and transformations.
• The Skills like Mental rotation, mirror images, perspectives, and pattern completion are required.
• It will help to assess the candidate’s ability to visualise the objects and structure of the design tasks.

UCEED Syllabus: Practical & Scientific Knowledge

• It includes the Application of scientific principles in real-life design contexts.
• Skills required are Basic mechanics, properties of materials, light, motion, and usability.
• It will ensure that designers have functional and practical solutions.

UCEED Syllabus: Observation & Design Sensitivity

• It will include Awareness and keen observation of everyday life situations.
• The Skills Required are identifying hidden details, recognising patterns, classifying objects, and making predictions.
• It increases attention to every small detail and sensitivity towards the needs of users.

UCEED Syllabus: Environment & Society

• It will include understanding the role of design in a society, culture and work environment.
• The Required skills are Social awareness, cultural sensitivity, and sustainability concepts.
• It will prepare the candidate to design socially relevant solutions that are eco-friendly.

UCEED Syllabus: Analytical & Logical Reasoning

• It includes problem-solving, including logic and structured thinking.
• The Required skills are data interpretation, puzzles, sequences and mathematical reasoning.
• It will increase the analytical ability the design the challenges systematically.

UCEED Syllabus: Language

• It includes English Comprehension and communication.
• The Skills Required are Reading comprehension, vocabulary, and understanding instructions.
• It is important to interpret the design briefs and to present solutions effectively.

UCEED Syllabus: Creativity

• It Includes Innovation and originality in the thinking.
• The Skills Required are Verbal and non-verbal analogies, metaphors, and symbol interpretation.
• To measure the ability to generate unique and imaginative Design ideas.

UCEED Syllabus: Drawing (Part B)

• It includes Freehand drawing and visual representation.
• The Skills Required are sketching objects, people, and scenes with correct proportion, perspective, shading, and line quality.
• Core skill for expressing design ideas visually.

UCEED Syllabus: Design Aptitude (Part B)

• It Includes Creative problem-solving through design scenarios.
• The Required skills are Idea generation, empathetic thinking, clarity of concepts, and presentation.
• Tests the ability to respond to real-world design problems with innovation.

How to Prepare for UCEED 2026?

The UCEED is one of the most competitive exams in which more than 14,000 candidates compete for around 600 IIT Design Seats.

• The UCEED Exam tests the design aptitude, creativity, logical reasoning, visualisation and drawing skills.
• Candidates should follow a smart preparation plan along with daily practice, time management skills and subject-wise focus is necessary to score high.

Is NCERT Enough for UCEED Preparation?

No, NCERT is not enough for the UCEED Preparation. The NCERT Books will help to build the basic concepts of science, aptitude and general awareness.

The UCEED Exam will test skills like creativity, visualisation, logical reasoning, design aptitude and drawing ability, which are not covered in the NCERT.

Why NCERT is useful:

• To build science concepts (Physics, Chemistry & Daily Life Applications).
• To strengthen general knowledge & awareness.
• Help with the basics of analytical thinking.

Why NCERT is not Enough:

• The Drawing & sketching skills are not involved in the NCERT.
• For Design Aptitude & creativity, specialised practice is required.
• The Logical Reasoning & visualisation puzzles also need extra resources for practice.
• The UCEED also requires awareness of design, culture, environment and society, which is beyond the NCERT.
