You can take the SAT as many times as you want, and without any waiting period between tests. As per the College Board, most students take it at least twice, once in the spring of junior year and again in the fall of senior year, to improve their score. Tips to Choose a SAT Test Date
Choosing the best SAT test date is important for Indian students, as a SAT score might be only one of the many admission requirements for you to study abroad. Here are a few tips and deciding factors that you need to consider before selecting your SAT exam date.
- University deadlines usually fall between November and January, so pick a test date that gives at least 2 weeks for scores to be released and submitted.
- If you're aiming for top universities abroad, take your first SAT in May 2026 to allow time for a retake in June.
- If you are in Class 12, avoid test dates that clash with your board exam preparation. Your focus should be clear during SAT preparation, especially with the test now being digital.
- Use a mock test to check your preparedness, and give yourself at least 2-3 months of consistent preparation before taking the exam.
- Test centers fill up quickly, especially in metro cities like Delhi, Mumbai, and Bangalore. Register early to get your preferred center and date.
- Since the SAT is now fully digital, ensure you’re comfortable with the new format. Choose a test date that allows time to take full-length digital mock tests using the Bluebook app.
