What is RBSE (Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education)?

RBSE stands for the Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education, officially known as the Board of Secondary Education, Rajasthan (BSER). It was established in 1957 under the Rajasthan Secondary Education Act, 1957 and is headquartered in Ajmer, Rajasthan. RBSE is the state education board responsible for regulating and supervising secondary and senior secondary education across all affiliated government and private schools in Rajasthan.

The board conducts annual examinations for Class 10 (Secondary Examination) and Class 12 (Senior Secondary Examination). It also oversees examinations at the Class 5 and Class 8 levels under state government schemes. RBSE sets the curriculum, prescribes textbooks (based on NCERT with Rajasthan-specific content), and manages the entire exam lifecycle — from student registration to result declaration and supplementary exams.

RBSE Class 12 is offered in three main streams:

  • Science: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics or Biology as the core subjects
  • Arts: History, Geography, Political Science, Economics, Sociology, Psychology, and more
  • Commerce: Accountancy, Business Studies, Economics, and Mathematics

RBSE is one of the largest state education boards in India. Every year, more than 20 lakh students combined (Class 10 and Class 12) appear for RBSE board exams at thousands of exam centres spread across Rajasthan. The RBSE result and marksheet are widely accepted for college admissions across India. Students who pass RBSE Class 12 can apply for national entrance exams like NEET, JEE Main, and CUET, as the RBSE syllabus is closely aligned with NCERT.

RBSE also provides post-result services like scrutiny, re-evaluation, and the supplementary examination. These give students a second opportunity to correct their marks or clear failed subjects without losing an academic year. The official RBSE website is rajeduboard.rajasthan.gov.in.

RBSE Grading System 2026

RBSE follows a 9-point grading system for both Class 10 and Class 12 result marksheets. Grades are assigned based on the marks scored in each subject as well as the overall result. The grading scale ranges from A1 (Outstanding) to E2 (Fail).

Grade Marks Range (%) Performance Indicator
A1 91 – 100 Outstanding
A2 81 – 90 Excellent
B1 71 – 80 Very Good
B2 61 – 70 Good
C1 51 – 60 Average
C2 41 – 50 Satisfactory
D 33 – 40 Pass (Minimum Passing)
E1 21 – 32 Fail (Eligible for Supplementary)
E2 0 – 20 Fail (Not Eligible for Supplementary)

Students who receive a grade of D or above in all subjects are considered to have passed. Students who score grade E1 in one or two subjects are eligible for the supplementary exam. Students who score E2 in any subject are typically required to reappear in the full board exam the next year.

The RBSE marksheet shows both the marks and the corresponding grade for each subject. For college admissions, most institutions look at your overall percentage rather than the grade points — make sure your percentage calculation matches before submitting applications.

RBSE Preparation Tips for Board Exams

If you are preparing for the RBSE board exams in the 2026–27 session, these tips will help you score well and make the most of your study time.

  • Follow the Official RBSE Syllabus and Blueprint: Download the latest RBSE syllabus and the subject-wise blueprint from rajeduboard.rajasthan.gov.in before you start studying. The blueprint shows you chapter-wise marks distribution — focus more time on high-weightage chapters.
  • Use NCERT Textbooks as the Foundation: RBSE exam questions are primarily based on NCERT books. Read NCERT thoroughly for all subjects — especially Science, Mathematics, Social Science, and English for Class 10, and Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics for Class 12. Build your concepts from NCERT before moving to extra study materials.
  • Solve RBSE Previous Year Question Papers: Practice at least the last 5 years of RBSE question papers for each subject. You will understand the question format, the frequently asked topics, and learn how to write well-structured answers within the time limit.
  • Attempt RBSE Sample Papers: RBSE releases official sample papers before the exam. Solve them under exam-like conditions — set a timer for 3 hours 15 minutes and try to finish the entire paper. This builds your speed and accuracy.
  • Focus on Practical and Internal Assessment Marks: Practical exams and internal assessment contribute 20 to 30 marks per subject in Class 12. These marks are easier to score if you maintain a proper practical record, complete all experiments, and are regular in your internal assessments. Do not neglect these marks.
  • Practice Writing Structured Long Answers: Many RBSE questions are long-answer type. Practice writing detailed, well-structured answers. Use headings, points, and diagrams where needed. Make sure you can write a good long answer within 8 to 10 minutes.
  • Revise Regularly and Make Short Notes: Set aside time each week for revision. Make short notes of key formulas, important dates, definitions, and diagrams for each subject. These notes are invaluable for quick revision in the days before the exam.
  • Manage Your Time on Exam Day: Spend the first 10 to 15 minutes reading the question paper carefully. Start with questions you know best. Do not get stuck on one question for too long — move on and come back to it if time allows.
  • Take Care of Your Physical Health: Sleep for at least 7 to 8 hours each night during exam preparation. Eat well and take short breaks during study sessions. Your concentration and performance directly depend on your physical wellbeing.
