The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) has released the revised dates for the postponed Class 12 public exams for the 2025 session. According to the new schedule, the exams in Bihar and the Nuapada constituency of Odisha will take place earlier on 29th November 2025 and 1st December 2025, than those in the rest of the country. All other postponed papers across India will now be held on December 2, 2025.
The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) will publish the NIOS 12th Exam date sheet 2026 on the official website: sdmis.nios.ac.in/. The Council has opened the NIOS 10th, 12th exam registration window for April/May 2026 exams. Generally, the Class 12 NIOS Date Sheet 2026 is released twice every year. The NIOS April session examinations have already happened from 3rd April to 8th May 2026. Students can register for NIOS admission 2025-26 in online mode on the official website - nios.ac.in by filling the NIOS admission form.
- Students can register themselves for March-April 2026 exams with a late fee of Rs 510 till August 31, 2025.
- Thereafter, the NIOS admissions can be done between September 1 and 15, 2025 with a late fee of Rs 910.
The NIOS theory exams will begin at 2:30 PM but the exam duration will vary depending upon the subject. NIOS Class 12 Exam 2026 conducts the exam twice annually for students who prefer flexible learning. The exam is held offline with a duration of 3 hours per paper and offers a variety of subjects grouped into six categories, including languages, sciences, commerce, humanities, and vocational courses.
- The NIOS application process for the April 2026 exam opens in the 3rd week of December 2025 and closes by the 2nd week of January 2026.
- NIOS Admit cards for the theory exams will be released in the last week of March 2026 on the official portal, sdmis.nios.ac.in.
- The theory exams start in the 1st week of April 2026 & conclude by the 2nd week of May 2026.
- Results are expected by the 4th week of June 2026.
Students will not be allowed to sit for the exam without their NIOS 12th Hall Tickets. NIOS will release the results for the April/May session within 7 weeks after the last theory exam. Successful candidates will get their marksheet-cum-certificate from the respective Accredited Institutes (AI).

Students can download NIOS 12th Exam Date PDF from the official portal. The steps to download the date sheet are as follows:
Step 1: Visit the official website - sdmis.nios.ac.in.

The NIOS on-demand exam is conducted the whole year for students to appear for exams as per their own interest. Eligible students can appear for these exams as per their choice and availability.
- Students appearing for these exams must complete the NIOS class 12 registration process for on-demand exams.
