LFAT 2026, also known as the Allahabad University Law Admission Test (AU LAT), is a university-level entrance exam conducted by the University of Allahabad for admission to the 3-year LLB programme at its constituent law colleges. • Result: LFAT 2026 result is expected in the last week of June 2026 and has not been declared as of June 26, 2026. In 2025, the AU LAT result was declared on June 26, 2025 — the 2026 result could be announced any day now.
• Counselling: LFAT 2026 counselling is expected to begin in the second week of July 2026 at ecounselling.in. In 2025, Round 1 registration opened on July 23, 2025 and the process ran across multiple rounds through August.
• Cutoff: The LFAT 2026 cutoff will be released along with or after the result. Based on past trends, the General (UR) category Round 1 closing cutoff is expected around 165–175 marks out of 300. In 2025, the UR Round 1 cutoff was 170+ marks.
• Seat Allotment: LFAT 2026 seat allotment is expected to begin in late July 2026. In 2025, the first allotment was published shortly after Round 1 registration closed on July 25, 2025. Around 975–1,125 LLB seats are available across three colleges.

LFAT stands for Law Faculty Admission Test. It is also commonly called AU LAT, which stands for Allahabad University Law Admission Test. The University of Allahabad — one of India’s oldest and most respected central universities — conducts this exam every year for admission to the 3-year LLB programme at its Faculty of Law and affiliated colleges in Prayagraj.

LFAT 2026 Eligibility Criteria

You should check the LFAT 2026 eligibility criteria carefully before applying. The University of Allahabad follows the Bar Council of India (BCI) guidelines for 3-year LLB admissions. Here is what you need to be eligible:

• Educational Qualification: You must have a Bachelor’s degree in any stream (Arts, Science, Commerce, etc.) from a BCI-recognised university or institution.
• Minimum Marks: General and EWS candidates need at least 45% aggregate marks in their graduation. OBC candidates need 42%. SC and ST candidates need 40%.
• Final-Year Students: If you are in the final year of your Bachelor’s programme, you can appear in LFAT 2026. You must submit your final degree certificate at the time of document verification during counselling.
• Age Limit: There is no upper age limit for admission to the 3-year LLB programme through LFAT 2026. This is in line with the Supreme Court’s direction removing the age cap for LLB admissions.
• Nationality: You must be an Indian national.

Final-year graduation students are eligible to appear. However, you must produce your final degree certificate and marksheet at the time of counselling. Your seat may be cancelled if you fail to submit these documents.

LFAT 2026 Application Process and Fees

The LFAT 2026 application process was completely online. The application window was open from May 5, 2026 to May 28, 2026. The form has now closed. If you have already applied, keep your application number and login credentials safe — you will need them for downloading your result and for counselling registration.

For LFAT 2026 and future years, current affairs and legal aptitude are the two most important areas to focus on. Legal aptitude does not require you to know full legal texts — questions test how you apply a given legal principle to a factual situation using common sense and logical reasoning.

LFAT 2026 Admit Card

The LFAT 2026 admit card was released on June 9, 2026, over a week before the exam date of June 17, 2026. Candidates who registered for the exam could download their hall ticket from the official Allahabad University portal. The admit card was a mandatory document — no candidate was allowed to enter the exam hall without it.

The cutoff for the Faculty of Law is generally higher than for C.M.P. and ADC.

If you are planning for LFAT 2027 or reviewing your preparation strategy after LFAT 2026, these tips are based on the actual exam structure and past performance patterns of successful candidates.

• Focus on Current Affairs All Year: Section II carries 100 marks and is the highest-scoring section if prepared consistently. Read a quality newspaper daily. Maintain a monthly summary of key events in government policy, judiciary, sports, science, and international affairs from the past 12 months.
• Build Legal Aptitude from the Basics: Section III includes 25 legal aptitude questions worth 50 marks. You do not need a law degree. Questions give you a legal principle and a factual scenario — you apply the principle logically. Practise CLAT-style legal reasoning questions and study basic principles from torts, contract law, criminal law, and the Constitution.
• Use Both Languages Strategically: Section I tests English and Hindi comprehension equally (25 questions each). If you are stronger in Hindi, ensure you maximise those 25 questions. Use your stronger language to save time and use the remaining time on the harder passages.
• Attempt Every Question: There is no negative marking in LFAT. Never leave any question blank. If you are unsure, guess intelligently — even a random attempt gives you a 25% chance of +2 marks at zero risk.
• Practise Time Management with Mock Tests: You get 2 hours for 150 questions — about 48 seconds per question. Run full-length timed mock tests regularly. Aim to finish General Awareness in 25–30 minutes (it is recall-based) and spend more time on comprehension passages and reasoning puzzles.
• Solve Previous Year LFAT Papers: Previous year LFAT / AU LAT papers give you an exact picture of the difficulty level and question distribution. Previous CLAT papers are also excellent for legal aptitude and reasoning practice.
• Target 170+ for a Safe Score: Based on four years of cutoff data, scoring 170 or more out of 300 gives General category candidates a strong chance at Round 1 admission to the Faculty of Law. Scoring 180+ makes your admission to at least one of the three colleges almost certain.
