The counselling process provides admission to students from unrepresented UTs like Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep, Daman & Diu, and Dadra & Nagar Haveli. Candidates can apply online through the CSAB portal to participate in CSAB Supernumerary Counselling 2025.
These Union Territories do not have any NITs, so to provide technical education to the students, the supernumerary seats are allocated to them. NITs like NIT Calicut, NIT Durgapur, and SVNIT Surat participate in the CSAB supernumerary counselling.
The counselling began on 16th August last year, and over 151 seats were allocated to candidates. In 2025, the number of seats is expected to range around 155-160
The seat allocation under the CSAB Supernumerary is done on the basis of the JEE Main scores, and there is no fixed cutoff for the supernumerary round.

CSAB Supernumerary Counselling 2025 Eligibility Criteria
Candidates should meet certain requirements for being eligible for admission to CSAB Supernumerary Counselling 2025. Candidates who do not meet the eligibility criteria for JoSAA or CSAB Special Rounds but are from eligible UTs can take part in this Supernumerary Counselling.
Who comes under the Supernumerary Quota?
Candidates belonging to the unrepresented UT, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep, Daman & Diu, and Dadra Nagar Haveli, where there is no NIT or any centrally funded institute, come under the supernumerary quota.
Who is eligible for CSAB Supernumerary Counselling?
The minimum eligibility criteria are as follows:
- Only Indian citizens are eligible to apply for this counselling round.
- Candidates must be from one of the following Union territories: Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep, Daman & Diu, and Dadra Nagar Haveli. Only students from this UT are eligible for admission; other states or UT candidates cannot participate.
- Candidates must have appeared in the JEE Main 2025 Session 1 or Session 2 and have a valid score. There is no minimum score requirement under the CSAB supernumerary rounds.
Age Criteria
- Candidates must be at least 17 years old as of 2025.
- Candidate must not be over 25 years old (for the general category) and 30 years old (for SC/ ST/ Pwd categories)
Educational Qualification
- Candidates must have passed the Class 12th examination with subjects Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
- Candidates appearing for the class 12th exam in 2025 can also apply, but they must meet the eligibility criteria upon the declaration of the results.

CSAB Supernumerary Counselling Process
The CSAB Supernumerary counselling process involves steps like Online Registration, Choice Filling, Choice Locking, Seat Allotment, Seat Acceptance Fees, Document Verification, and Physical Reporting at the NIT.
Online Registration
The eligible candidates have to visit the official CSAB portal https://csab.nic.in and register themselves by entering their personal information, JEE Main details, and the UT-specific documents. Only candidates from the eligible Union Territories (Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep, Daman & Diu, Dadra & Nagar Haveli) with a valid JEE Main 2025 score can register.
Do we have to register again for Round 2 Counselling?
There is only a single round under the CSAB Supernumerary counselling. Therefore, candidates have to register themselves once for participating in the counselling process.
Choice Filling
After registering themselves on the official website of CSAB, candidates must log in to the portal and select their preferred courses. The choice should be made from the available supernumerary seats in NIT Calicut, Durgapur, and SVNIT Surat. Arrange your choices in order of preference to increase the chances of allotment.
How many choices can be filled in the CSAB Supernumerary?
There is no limit for choice filing under the CSAB supernumerary counselling. Candidates can fill in as many course choices as they want; they can also edit, rearrange or delete the choices before locking.
Choice Locking
After selecting the courses of their preference, candidates should lock their selected choices. If any candidates fail to lock the choices, it may result in the failure of the seat allotment.
Seat Allotment
The seat allotment results are published on the CSAB portal. The seats are allocated based on the JEE Main ranks, locked choices, and seat availability. The counselling may consist of multiple rounds.
Seat Acceptance and Fee Payment
To confirm the allotted seat, candidates must pay a non-refundable seat acceptance fee through the CSAB portal. Candidates must pay the fee within the deadline specified by CSAB. The non-payment of fees may lead to the cancellation of the seat allotment.

CSAB Supernumerary Admission Criteria 2025
For admission under the CSAB Supernumerary counselling, only the JEE Main 2025 scores are used. The highest scores from any session in January or April 2025 are automatically considered by CSAB. The All India Rank is calculated based on the best JEE Main Scores across both sessions.
Is There Any Cut-off in CSAB Supernumerary?
No, there is no fixed cut-off for CSAB. The admissions under CSAB is based on the eligibility, JEE Main AIR, and availability of Seats. Even candidates with lower ranks can get seats if seats are vacant and they meet the eligibility criteria.

How is the JEE Main Score Used in CSAB Supernumerary Counselling?
- If a student appears in both the sessions of JEE Main 2025 (January and April), the best of the two scores is considered by CSAB.
- The NTA calculates your normalised percentile score and converts it into the JEE Main All India rank (AIR), and the AIR is used for seat allotment.
How Seats Are Allocated Without a Cut-off?
The seats under the CSAB Supernumerary are allocated based on the JEE Main scores. There is no minimum cut-off percentile or rank under the counselling process. Candidates don’t need to meet the general JoSAA category cut-offs.
Students with low JEE Main percentiles, like 40-60, have received admission in the supernumerary rounds.
