The course is divided into 8 semesters which means 2 semesters per year. The assessment of the course is based on theoretical and internal papers. There is separate weightage allotted to both the papers.

The B.Tech. Textile Chemistry course may look different on the outset for different universities but the topics covered in the curriculum remains the same. Here we have gathered an overview of the general curriculum of the B.Tech. Textile Chemistry.

Textile Fibers

Definition and classification of textile fibers, introduction of impurities in natural fibers, fiber morphology, sorting and grading of wool, physical and chemical properties of silk fiber, manufacturing process

The whole idea here is to introduce students with the world of textile fibers. They will learn various varieties of fibers and their usages also they will learn certain chemical properties of those fibers and how to manufacture.

Physical Chemistry

Classification, difference between colloidal solution, true solution and suspension, lyophibic and lyophilic solutions, types of adsorption, thermo chemistry, electro chemistry, theory of catalysis

The subject is taught with the motive of implementing knowledge of physical chemistry which is basis for the textile manufacturing.

Introduction to Wet Processing

Impurities of raw cotton, wool, silk; elementary knowledge of processing, introduction to machinery used in bleaching and scouring of cotton, dyeing, printing, finishing

In this course students learn about the processes of printing, finishing etc. and are introduced to machinery employed in these  processes.

Nano Technology

Introduction and fundamental science behind Nano technology, measuring instruments of Nano structures, points and places of interest, applications

In this paper students learn the use of Nano technology in textile industry and its applications through which measuring in fibers and raw materials is done.

Analytical Chemistry

Oxidation, chromatography, crystallography, spectroscopy

This subject teaches the basics of reactions included in analytical chemistry and various processes in it.

Theory of Dyeing

Physical and chemical principles, concept of solubility parameter, relation between color and chemical constitution, absorption, electrochemical process

Dyeing is an important process in textile industry. Under this subject students will learn various processes of dyeing, applications and its usages.

Ans. Choosing IIT BHU for Chemical Engineering is better than opting for CSE at MNIT Allahabad. IIT BHU is known for its excellent curriculums and research projects. IIT BHU is Ranked 15 th  in the NIRF Ranking. The average course fee for a first-year BTech program is around INR 2.27 Lakhs . Ques. Which one is better: chemical engineering at IIT Bombay or computer science and engineering at IIT (BHU) in Varanasi?

Ans. I am a second-year chemical engineering student at IIT Bombay. I think you should opt for Chemical Engineering at IIT Bombay.  IIT Bombay received 3rd position in the Engineering category as per NIRF 2023 Ranking. In the Placements 2023, the highest package bagged at IIT Bombay was INR 1.68 CPA. Ans. According to me, for chemical engineering, IIT Gandhinagar is a better option than ICT Mumbai and IIT Hyderabad. I am a student of Chemical Engineering from IIT Gandhinagar and can vouch for the excellent academic standards that the institution offers. The faculty members are really good and helpful throughout the course. IIT Gandhinagar has a full-time four-year BTech program. The average course fee is around INR 9.2 Lakhs for four years. The placement records are good for the institution with more than 50% of students placed in 2023. The median package is INR 14 LPA and the average package is INR 14.82 LPA .Read more

According to me, these are the main factors you should consider while making up your mind: Demand: CSE is more in-demand than chemical engineering. Brand: The “IIT” tag holds more brand value than the “BITS” tag. The “IIT” tag will be more advantageous if you want to apply to foreign universities for higher education later on. Fees: IIT Delhi is an affordable choice, whereas, BITS Pilani has high fees for its engineering programs. Additionally, IIT Delhi has better placements, which places it at a better position in terms of ROI. However, I think choosing IIT Bhubaneswar is better than going with chemical engineering at IIT BHU or CSE at NIT Rourkela.  IIT Bhubaneswar is known for its excellent theoretical and practical curriculum. IIT Bhubaneswar provides a dual full-time 5-year course, B.Tech in Civil Engineering + M.Tech in Transportation Engineering.
