The course is divided into 8 semesters which means 2 semesters per year. The assessment of the course is based on theoretical and internal papers. There is separate weightage allotted to both the papers.

Definition and classification of textile fibers, introduction of impurities in natural fibers, fiber morphology, sorting and grading of wool, physical and chemical properties of silk fiber, manufacturing process

The whole idea here is to introduce students with the world of textile fibers. They will learn various varieties of fibers and their usages also they will learn certain chemical properties of those fibers and how to manufacture.

Physical Chemistry

Classification, difference between colloidal solution, true solution and suspension, lyophibic and lyophilic solutions, types of adsorption, thermo chemistry, electro chemistry, theory of catalysis

The subject is taught with the motive of implementing knowledge of physical chemistry which is basis for the textile manufacturing.

Introduction to Wet Processing

Impurities of raw cotton, wool, silk; elementary knowledge of processing, introduction to machinery used in bleaching and scouring of cotton, dyeing, printing, finishing

In this course students learn about the processes of printing, finishing etc. and are introduced to machinery employed in these  processes.

Nano Technology

Introduction and fundamental science behind Nano technology, measuring instruments of Nano structures, points and places of interest, applications

In this paper students learn the use of Nano technology in textile industry and its applications through which measuring in fibers and raw materials is done.

Analytical Chemistry

Oxidation, chromatography, crystallography, spectroscopy

This subject teaches the basics of reactions included in analytical chemistry and various processes in it.

Theory of Dyeing

Physical and chemical principles, concept of solubility parameter, relation between color and chemical constitution, absorption, electrochemical process

Dyeing is an important process in textile industry. Under this subject students will learn various processes of dyeing, applications and its usages.

Ans. The placement scenario for Chemical Engineering students at IIT BHU is good. Although very few core companies from the field visit the campus placements. In the recent placement drive, the average CTC offered to the Chemical Engineering students was in the range of 15-17 LPA. Last year, the highest CTC offered to the branch was 38 LPA.  Around 60% of all none core companies visiting the campus placement are open for Chemical Engineering students. You also have the option to take GATE and opt for PSU jobs. Read more

Ques. How is the chemical engineering department at NIT Rourkela?

Ans. According to the student’s reviews online, you should not opt for chemical engineering at NIT Rourkela.  Here are some reasons as to why: The faculty of the department is not good, they are mostly new at their jobs and have very little educational experience. They focus more on theoretical learning than practicals. They prefer when students mug up theories rather than understanding them in depth. The teachers sometimes give so many assignments that it becomes impossible to complete them in time. There is a lot of communication gap between students and teachers. Lastly, the placement scenario of this department is bad. Most of the students are going into the IT sector and a very few got recruited in core industries and many students did not even receive placement offers. So considering everything it is suggested you do not pursue chemical engineering at NIT Rourkela.Read more

Ques. Which is better, chemical engineering from UICET PU Chandigarh, chemical engineering from Thapar University Patiala or computer science from CCET Chandigarh (affiliated to PU)?

Ans. Having a few friends from both institutes I might be able to share some facts about both the institutes. Chemical Engineering at UICET is better than Chemical at Thapar University or CSE at CCET. UICET is a well-renowned university and has a reputed department.  They have brilliant placement records and a strong alumni base. Laboratories and faculty at UICET are better than those at Thapar. Course fees at UICET for chemical engineering are very less than that in Thapar University.  Thapar is no doubt a well-reputed university but as far as chemical engineering is concerned UICET is better. CCET is affiliated with PU located in sector-26 Chandigarh. It is well known for its diploma courses. However, UICET is any day better than CCET in all terms. Ques. How is Chemical Engineering at NIT Surathkal?

Ans. The Chemical Engineering branch at NIT Surathkal isn’t well-known because of its obsolete curriculum and poor placement scenario. I hope you haven’t yet joined it but if you have known that there is no turning back. It’s better to start working hard to compensate for the poor branch than to sit and regret.  It’s better to opt for Chemical in Trichy or Warangal. Otherwise, you can study hard in the 1st year and opt for a branch change. Even if you fail to get CSE/IT, even civil and mining will do.  I have many friends who joined this department recently and all of them are regretting their decision big time. Some even call it the worst in the institution. So I will recommend you to go for Chemical in NIT Warangal instead. Read more

Ans. BITS Goa placements are good for Chemical Engineering. During recent placement drive, students of Chemical received the highest CTC of around INR 25 LPA. While the lowest CTC offered was INR 10 LPA. The placement average for the branch is around 99%. Schlumberger, ExxonMobil, Reliance, Shell, etc. were some of the major recruiters that take part in the placement drive.Read more

Furthermore, the department also organizes guest lectures, conferences, and seminars to bridge the gap between academia and industry. Additionally, the B.Tech course in dyestuff technology focuses attention on the process chemistry, technology, and engineering of organic intermediates and colorants. All these factors create huge opportunities for students who want to pursue higher education in dyestuff technology. Placement: The institute has a well-organized placement cell that manages work ranging from the collection of the student’s CV, organizing them as per the company’s requirements, preparation of placement brochure, coordinating the interview schedules, etc. The highest package offered was 13.7 LPA which was offered by BPCL. Make a note of the following tips that will help you if you are a first-year student at BIT Mesra. Ask beforehand if the bus will take the Bariatu route or the Kokar route for buses plying Ranchi at 1 PM. Maintain a healthy bond with seniors instead of being arrogant. They will genuinely help you in times of need.  Mechanical Engineering lab sessions are a good chance to showcase your drawing skills which might also fetch you good marks.
