Jalpaiguri Law College, established in 1981, is the sole government-aided law college in Jalpaiguri district, West Bengal, and is affiliated with the University of North Bengal. It offers a 5-year B.A. L.L.B. program, including BA.LLB (General) and BA.LLB (Hons). Admission requires at least 50% in 10+2 and performance in an entrance exam. The college is known for its skilled faculty, who use modern teaching methods and maintain a 1:50 faculty-to-student ratio.
Although the college does not provide direct placements or internships, students often find employment in law firms after graduation. Last year, the highest reported package was around 22 lakh per annum. Students must seek internships independently, but the college offers workshops and seminars to enhance skills. Eligible students can participate in placement efforts from the 7th semester, with some packages ranging from 30,000 to 60,000. Fees are Rs 11,745 per annum for BA.LLB (General) and Rs 30,200 per annum for BA.LLB (Hons), making the programs affordable.
The college does not offer hostels, direct placements, or its own scholarships, but government scholarships for SC, ST, and OBC students are available.
