VLBJCAS Eligibility & Selection Criteria
- BSc. The candidates interested in pursuing a B.Sc. course in V.L.B. Janakiammal College of Arts and Science have to fulfil the criteria mentioned below to make the application. They have to give 10+2 (Higher Secondary) or equivalent examinations from well-recognised boards. They should have attended relevant science classes (e.g. Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Mathematics) under the area of specialisation they are seeking. - BBA: Candidates must have passed HSC (10+2) or equivalent examination from a recognised board. Applicants should have studied Commerce and Accountancy as part of their Higher Secondary curriculum. 20% of the total seats are reserved for students from the Vocational Stream as per admission norms. Eligibility may be subject to Tamil Nadu government and Bharathiar University guidelines. Selection criteria: Merit & Entrance-based.
- B.Com: Candidates must have passed the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examination or its equivalent from a recognised board. They must have studied Commerce and Accountancy as core subjects in HSC. 20% of the total seats are reserved for candidates from the Vocational Stream, as per admission norms. Selection criteria: Merit & Entrance-based.
- MBA: To be considered eligible, the applicant should possess a bachelor's degree in any field from any university. Generally, a bare aggregate of 50% marks (45 % in the case of the reserved category) is needed. The applicants must pass the TANCET (Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test), which was organised by Anna University. Other students who may apply are final year undergraduates, provided they are eligible during the time they are admitted. Selection criteria: Merit & Entrance-based.
- MCA: The candidates should possess a bachelor's degree in BCA, B.Sc. (Computer Science / IT) or any other academic degree with Mathematics as a discipline in 10 + 2 or a graduation degree. He/she should hold at least 50 % cumulative marks (45 % reserved categories) of a recognised university. The candidates have to have passed the TANCET (Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test) of Anna University. Application is to be made by final year students, and they must pass the eligibility test at the time of admission. Selection criteria: Merit & Entrance-based.
- BCA: The applicants should have passed 10+2 (HSC) or its equivalent in a well-known board. One of the subjects of HSC should be Mathematics or Computer Science. The Admission is governed by the norms of Bharathiar University based on Merit.
- M.Phil. The applicants should possess a post-graduate qualification in the same subject from an accredited university. It is necessary to have a minimum of 55% (50% in reserved categories) aggregate marks. The entry is normally through an entrance test and/or interview, according to the university.
- Ph.D: The prospective candidates should possess a Master of Philosophy or a Master's degree in the concerned discipline from a registered university. One should get at least 55 % of marks in postgraduation (or 50 % for reserved categories). Student selection is on the basis of the entrance test/interview and under the rules of Bharathiar University in doing a Ph.D.
