Bharathiar University PhD Admission 2024 Eligibility Criteria
- Candidates must have completed a post-graduate degree with the following qualifications:
- SSLC + HSC + UG + PG (10 + 2 + 3 + 2) or
- 11-years SSLC + PUC + UG + PG (11 + 1 + 3 + 2) or
- 10-years SSLC + 3 years Diploma + 2 years UG degree + 2 years PG (10 + 3 + 2 + 2) or
- 10 years SSLC + HSC + 4 years UG degree + 1 year PG degree (10 + 2 + 4 + 1)
- Candidates must have a Master’s degree or equivalent recognized by Bharathiar University with at least 55% marks in aggregate (50% marks for SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS/PH)
- Candidates who have completed M.Phil. with at least 55% marks (50% marks for SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS/PH) are eligible.
- Candidates can register as either full-time or part-time PhD scholar:
- Teachers in university departments, university colleges, affiliated colleges, and government-recognized schools in Tamil Nadu can register as part-time scholars.
- Scientists, Research Fellows, Project Assistants, and similar roles in recognized research projects can register as full-time or part-time scholars.
- Chartered Accountants, Cost Accountants, Company Secretaries, and other professionals with minimum 2 years of experience after obtaining their qualification are eligible to register as part-time scholars.
- Candidates with professional postgraduate degrees from recognized institutions (e.g., DRDO, NIT, CSIR, ICMR) are be eligible to register for the PhD program.
- Candidates who are permanent employees of recognized organizations (government agencies, private companies, research institutes) with at least 2 years of experience after Master’s degree can register as part-time scholars.
- Guest lecturers working in government or government-aided colleges in Tamil Nadu can register, subject to providing a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their employer.
- Candidates already holding a PhD degree in a different discipline can register for a PhD in another discipline, provided they meet the admission requirements.
- Candidates who have completed the M.Phil. course work and are awaiting the viva-voce can register for the PhD program in the same institution.
- Candidates with a postgraduate degree or an M.Phil. degree from an Indian institution or an accredited foreign institution are eligible for admission to the PhD program at Bharathiar University.
Bharathiar University PhD Admission 2024 Key Details
- Candidates with professional degrees like M.E., M.Tech., Medicine, Law, Agriculture, or similar degrees are not eligible for PhD admissions.
- Candidates registered for a part-time PhD programme must submit the employment certificate from the employer to the university every year to the research supervisor and the concerned head of the department.
- Candidates who register for PhD without fellowship are required to qualify for the Common Eligibility Test (CET) conducted by Bharathiar University.
- UGC/CSIR – NET/SET/GATE/M.Phil. Qualified candidates / Teacher Fellowship Holders / DST INSPIRE (who attains eligibility) / Scientist Working in DRDO / Faculty of Air Force Administrative College / Candidate with PG degree from abroad are exempted from CET.
