Is GMRCET mandatory for GMRIT B.Tech admission 2026?

No. GMRCET is GMRITs own entrance test. It is not the only route. Candidates with a valid JEE Main or AP EAPCET rank are also eligible. Students without any entrance score may be considered on Class XII merit through the holistic evaluation.

What is the minimum percentage required for GMRIT B.Tech?

Candidates must have passed Class XII with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, with a minimum aggregate of 50% from a recognised board. Students awaiting Class XII results may apply provisionally. Verify SC/ST norms directly with the GMRIT admissions office at 08941-252944.

Can students from outside Andhra Pradesh apply to GMRIT?

Yes. GMRIT is a Deemed to be University and does not require an Andhra Pradesh domicile. Students from all Indian states and NRI candidates may apply directly at admissions.gmrit.edu.in without any state quota restriction.

How many B.Tech seats does GMRIT offer and in which specialisations?

GMRIT offers 1,200 B.Tech seats across 9 specialisations: CSE (240 seats), ECE (180), IT (120), Civil (120), Mechanical (120), EEE (120), AI&ML (120), AI&DS (120), and Cyber Security (60).

Does GMRIT offer merit scholarships and how much can students receive?

Yes. Up to 20% of enrolled students receive fee concessions of 25%, 50%, 75%, or 100% of tuition fees. Eligibility is based on JEE Main rank, AP EAPCET rank, or Class XII marks. Contact gmritdu@gmrit.edu.in for current rank thresholds for the 2026-27 batch.

Is GATE score required for M.Tech admission at GMRIT?

GATE is the preferred qualifying exam for M.Tech admission. GMRIT also accepts AP PGECET ranks and GMRCET scores. Candidates without an entrance score may apply on UG aggregate merit (minimum 50%). GATE-qualified candidates receive priority in shortlisting.

What is the application fee for GMRIT admission 2026-27?

The application fee is INR 500 plus GST, payable online through admissions.gmrit.edu.in. This applies to all programmes including B.Tech, M.Tech, and Ph.D.

When did GMRIT become a Deemed University and what changes for admission?

GMRIT received Deemed to be University status in January 2026 via a Ministry of Education notification. As a Deemed University, GMRIT now runs GMRCET and offers direct merit-based admission. Students from all states may apply without relying solely on the AP state counselling route.

What hostel and transport facilities does GMRIT offer and what do they cost?

GMRIT offers separate hostels for boys and girls. Hostel fees range from INR 90,000 to INR 1,35,000 per year depending on room type (3-bed or 6-bed shared, AC or non-AC). Transport by bus is available on 9 routes at INR 35,000 to INR 38,000 per year.
