GLC Mumbai Faculties : Students' Opinion

AI-Generated Summary based on 39 Reviews

The faculty at Government Law College (GLC) is highly praised for its knowledgeable and distinguished professors, including notable figures such as Mr. Pithawala and Mr. Daswani. The college employs a mix of permanent and visiting faculty, with many visiting professors being prominent lawyers from the Bombay High Court and eminent scholars. Despite having limited permanent faculty, the visiting faculty ensures a rich learning experience. Lectures are conducted punctually, and faculty members are approachable and supportive, often providing additional guidance for exams and practical knowledge through competitions.

The faculty to student ratio is 1:60. However, the reliance on visiting faculty sometimes leads to irregular lectures. The college conducts exams twice a year, and the overall teaching quality is good, though some course revisions could enhance student engagement. Despite improvements, GLC's faculty is not yet on par with National Law Universities (NLUs).

Faculty:

The permanent faculty is very rude, whereas the visiting faculty is extremely nice and they super good at teaching. Only the unaided division has visiting faculty. Faculties I liked: Pandurang Daphal (Permanent Faculty) he is really sweet and understanding and teaches very well. He is an English Teacher. Shipra Raghuvanshi (Visiting Faculty) she is again very understanding and teaches very well. She teaches English as well. Laxmi Yadav (Visiting Faculty) she teaches us Political Theory. She is extremely coperative with the students. One of the best. Prashant Pandey (Visiting Faculty) he taught us economics in SEM-I and he is the best teacher in GLC. He is an amazing teacher. The marks breakup is as follows: 25 marks: Internals 75 marks: Final Exams The syllabus is really easy and mostly cramming based. Only 15 people failed in our batch of 266.

I think, there is no permanent faculty in Government law College and it creates the gap of trust. Like there are few subjects teacher that are permanent, otherwise only visiting faculty is there. The teachers are excellent in terms of teaching, and you will realise that only after attending lectures.

Most of the professors are visiting faculties. This creates a huge burden on the permanent faculty and creates problems for students too. A lot of these people are incompetent and lack the ability to tap into students minds.

Faculty:

The faculty is divided into two permanent and visiting faculty. The permanent faculty is extremely caring, understanding and generous. The visiting faculty's personalities are very subjective. There are two sems per year that means 10 sems over a period of 5 years. The subjects are between 3 to 5 in each semester which are changed .

Faculty:

There are a few permanent faculty members with vast knowledge in their field and effective teaching methods however Government law college primarily depends on visiting faculty members who in their own rights are experts in their given subjects however lack of permanent faculty often creates problems as students cannot reach out to the visiting faculty members once their agreements end after the pre determined tenure. Dependence on visiting faculty often hampers the co-operation between faculty of same subjects.
