IBS Hyderabad: Admission 2026, Fees, Courses, Cutoff, Ranking, Placement

IBS Hyderabad isn’t a good option for MBA. The placement record of the institute isn’t good. You won’t get a good ROI. The course fee for an MBA at IBS Hyderabad is INR 16.02 lakhs. While the average CTC offered to the students according to IBS Hyderabad placement highlights for 2022 is INR 7.97 LPA. 

The student intake is huge. Batch strength for MBA is 1300. So, students don’t get equal opportunities in terms of academics and placements.

Established in 1985, IBS Hyderabad is a part of the ICFAI Foundation for Higher Education (IFHE), and a deemed university under the UGC Act 1956. The college exhibits some splendid facilities and is one of the top B Schools in India. Let’s discuss the worth of the college through major highlights 

• Faculty: The faculty pool is like no other comprising PhD holders from major B Schools such as HBS, IIMA, Wharton School, and others. It also includes alumni who have come back to pursue their careers in teaching. The faculty members are experienced and knowledgeable in their teaching methodology.

• Pedagogy: Being an AACSB-accredited school, ISB Hyderabad’s learning philosophy is based on continuous learning. I don’t really understand why you want to change campuses when the Mumbai campus is the most coveted one. I have a friend who despite being an IBS Hyderabad pass-out, considers the Mumbai campus way superior after spending months on a summer internship there.

He considers the IBS Hyderabad to be overestimated and apart from infrastructure, IBS Powai/Hiranandani is much better in all aspects. Moreover, the Mumbai campus enjoys the locational advantage of being closest to the city of dreams. The campus is in the vicinity of IIT Mumbai so you get to interact with many geniuses also. 

On the other hand, IBS Shankarpally, despite having top-notch infrastructure, lacks connectivity. You are disconnected from other students and the entire world if you choose this college. 

My sister is a CSE major who has been studying at ICFAI for 3 years. She says that the when she had joined the placement scenario was average but the recent batches have witnessed better placement opportunities. Let’s discuss further about ITS on the basis of the following factors 

• Faculty: The extremely qualified and experienced faculty is very few. The rest are average professors. The Electronics and Maths departments are said to have the best professors.
• Research: The research culture at ITS is rather bleak. Lack of research oriented work is a crucial matter for students who are interested in research work.
• Curriculum: The institute's curriculum model, syllabus, semester and internship patterns and even pedagogy Is almost similar to that of BITS-PILANI.
• Campus: The institute is said to have the most beautiful campus in the city of Hyderabad. The ambiance around the campus is calm and serene making it perfect for studies. The serenity of the campus is a major reason why many students choose it over other colleges.
• Diversity: The institute leaves no stones unturned while selecting students from diverse backgrounds and cultures.

ITS is a very good option for those who are willing to study hard and make new friends in their journey.

IBS Hyderabad offers specialization in a variety of subjects. During the second year, i.e., 3rd and 4th semesters, you are required to choose 8 electives or subjects of your choice depending on your area of interest along with some compulsory electives. The electives are from a variety of specializations including 

• Finance
• Marketing
• Operations
• HR

You are at complete freedom to choose any combination of electives up to 8. One can choose Finance with Marketing or Operations with HR or even all Finance electives. However at IBS, a major at Operations is rare as very few companies in this sector visit the campus. You get to choose 5 electives in the 3rd semester whereas 3 electives in the 4th semester. 

One major point to note is that irrespective of whatever electives you choose, IBS Hyderabad offers a General MBA Degree only. Even if you have chosen all Finance electives, you get a general MBA degree and not MBA-Finance.

It would be better for you to sit for the CAT again. You just need to pay more attention and answer the questions diligently. If you are a person with an 85+ percentile, then you can easily crack above the 90 percentile, which opens ample opportunities, and you can secure a seat in the leading institutes like IMT, XIMB, IMI Delhi, IMI Ghaziabad, and so on.
