MIT Manipal: Students' Opinion

AI-Generated Summary based on 1 Reviews

Admission to the Structural Engineering program was based on an entrance exam, with candidates needing to achieve a high rank, such as a 4th rank, to secure a seat. The admission process included academic credential verification, after which an initial fee of 17,500 was required, with the remaining amount due within 15 days. The program featured around 15 qualified faculty members over two years, who were proactive and supportive, especially in helping students with internships and educational activities.

Initially, the tuition fee was affordable at 1 lakh per year for the first two years, and a stipend of 5,000 helped alleviate financial pressures. Although there has been a recent fee increase, the costs remain reasonable given the facilities. Placement opportunities were more abundant for computer science and other branches, while the structural engineering branch saw limited recruitment, with only two companies visiting and 1 or 2 students successfully securing positions.

Internships were available with stipends of around 5,000, influenced by previous academic performance. A scholarship program provided a monthly stipend of 5,000, requiring recipients to assist in laboratory sessions for undergraduate students, allowing master's degree holders to gain valuable teaching experience.

MIT Manipal: 2 Answered Questions

What is the total expenditure for a BTech course in Manipal Institute of Technology, Karnataka?

Sapna Malik
Shyam VermaComputer Science, and Engineering, MIT Manipal

Here is a rough estimate of the total expenditure for a BTech course at MIT Karnataka.

  • Total Tuition Fees ( BTech): INR 18.62 Lakhs
  • Hostel + Mess fees: Around 4–5 Lacs depending on the hostel you choose
  • Travel expense: On average you will be spending 750-1000 per month. So the cost of a 9-month stay for 4 years will be 1000*36= INR 36000
  • Travel expense from home to college: This varies from person to person because if you live far away, you will have to travel by airplane. Assuming, you will be taking 4 trips a year, the cost will be around 1 Lakh.
  • Misclieous Expenses: Around INR 5000 per month. So 5000 x 9 x 4 = 180000 INR.

The above estimate does take into account the money you spend partying or going on trips. Also, it's important to note that the above estimate is purely based on my speculations and may vary from person to person.

Which one is better for a BTech course: BITS Pilani or Manipal Institute of Technology Karnataka?

Bidita GhoseLives in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India

It's highly illogical to compare a Tier-1 engineering college like BITS to a Tier-2 university like Manipal Institute of Technology.

One cannot compare universities like Manipal, VIT, SRM, Jaypee, Amity, etc. to IIT, NIT, and BITS. These colleges have no brand value of their own and most of the people coming here are those who failed to qualify for competitive exams like JEE/BITSAT/AIEEE/etc. Moreover, the exposure and opportunities offered at BITS are unmatched. It's probably the only private engineering college that enjoys excellent global recognition too.

Irrespective of the branch you go for, the BITS Pilani degree has similar value everywhere. The BITS alumni network is great with some of them being co-founders of Redbus, Hotmail, etc.

Here is a brief comparison of these institutes
