MSIT Delhi Admission FAQs

Ques. Can I change my stream after counselling is over at MSIT Delhi?

Ans. Candidates who accepted a seat in the first round of counselling cannot change it in the following days of the first round itself. However, they can sign up for changing seats in the subsequent rounds with the payment of an INR 5000 fee in the form of a demand draft.

Ques. Can I apply for spot counselling at MSIT Delhi?

Ans. Yes, students can try for spot counselling at MSIT if some seats are still available after the main counselling rounds. IPU does spot rounds or special offline ones, usually in August, to fill up the remaining seats. Candidates must pay a sum of INR 2000 as a fee for spot counselling. This amount is non-refundable.

Ques. Can lateral entry students appear via JEE Mains at MSIT Delhi?

Ans. No, lateral entry students can't get into MSIT using JEE Mains scores. JEE is only for first-year admissions through IPU counselling. For second-year entry, candidates need to appear for the separate IPU CET exam, then do their counselling based on that rank. MSIT follows the same rules as other IPU colleges.

Ques. Can I apply directly to MSIT Delhi?

Ans. No, Candidates can't apply directly to MSIT for normal seats like in government colleges. It's an IPU-affiliated private college, so most seats (like 90%) fill only through JEE Main rank and then official IPU counselling rounds. You gotta register on the IPU website, pay the fee, and go through their process. But yes, there is a small management quota (around 10% seats) where you can apply somewhat directly to the college itself

Ques. Does MSIT Delhi have any scholarships?

Ans. The college does not have any fixed scholarship policy, but students can apply for government and IPU schemes. Students can get help if they're from economically weaker families, like the EWS scheme that cuts tuition fees a lot (up to full or half sometimes), merit-cum-means for good marks plus low income, post-matric for SC/ST/OBC categories, Pragati for girls in tech courses, Saksham for specially-abled students, and some national portal ones.

AI-Generated Summary based on 313 Reviews

Maharaja Surajmal Institute of Technology (MSIT) offers a B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) through a structured admission process centered on JEE Mains rankings and GGSIPU counselling. Applicants must achieve a minimum of 55% in Class 12, specifically in subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Generally, a rank within 70k to 129k in the JEE Mains is competitive for admission, with variations depending on the category and specific year.

The counselling process, hosted on the GGSIPU website, involves an initial registration fee of ?1500 and a counselling fee of ?1000, with slots open from May through June. The process includes three main rounds and subsequent spot rounds. Management quota admissions are also available, particularly for those with higher board exam marks, albeit at a higher fee. There is significant reservation for Delhi candidates, SC/ST, OBC, and other categories, giving them an advantage due to lower cutoff requirements.

While the online application for JEE Mains opens around November, the counselling begins in April, extending up to September, requiring patience as delays in result declarations are common. Despite the admissions being intricate and documentation-heavy, MSIT remains a favorable choice due to its advantageous location and placement prospects.
