Students and alumni claim that the placement scenario at KGEC Kalyani is far from stellar. The biggest recruiter is TCS, offering an average package of INR 4 LPA. Core companies rarely visit, but a few do, including, M.N. Dastur, Ericsson, Oracle Finance, and Hitachi. Initially, seniors might seem domineering but may end up as mentors and brother figures. KGEC maintains a decent level of discipline. There are no strict dress codes, but rules against half-pants and three-quarters exist. These rules are not imposed by the authorities, but by students themselves. KGEC lacks a cricket ground, basketball court, swimming pool, and an indoor sports club. However, it does have a TT Court, 2 uneven football grounds and a few volleyball courts. Freshers get a separate hostel, initially.KGEC has its downsides, but its still one of the best engineering colleges in West Bengal.

According to our research, students and alumni have listed the following downsides of studying at KGEC Kalyani.From the administration to faculty , every one has a lackluster attitude . No one cares much about students' well-being, especially the administration, which is not very helpful at times.Faculties are mediocre at best. They often lack knowledge and teach in a mechanical fashion.There is nepotism among the hostel students . Day scholars are often deprived of many opportunities, including placement opportunities .Campus doesn't look that good. If you have an expectation of magnificent buildings like the tier 1 and 2 colleges, then you will be underwhelmed .On campus placements are really mediocre. Most of the students are selected in mass recruiting IT companies. Good core companies or software companies rarely visit.

How is the faculty at KGEC Kalyani?

Students and alumni of KGEC Kalyani say that the faculty depends on which department or stream one is talking about. If you talk about the Computer Science department, it's no good as the faculties are as incompetent as an amateur swimmer. They lack proper expertise and knowledge to guide a potentially brilliant student and keep the interest-curve high. On the other hand, IT, Electrical and Electronics department is quite good, but talking about the best department in the college, it's mechanical. Students are made disciplined that they do not need any validation. The Head of the Department (HOD) of the Mechanical department is so hard-working that he is maintaining the morale and interest high in students, alone.

How are the BTech CSE placements at KGEC?

Students claim that if one is under the impression that they are going to get placed at their dream job from here, please dispel them. That being said, recruiters from CS and IT are typical IT companies, but (as of last year) they too are recruiting in lesser numbers compared to previous years. A few students however do manage to bag pretty good jobs, but that has more to do with individual talent. Placements are good only if you are hardworking and talented enough. As for the colleges role in your placement, dont count on it!

Some core companies do come in KGEC, but as obvious they recruit less students. So its not like they dont get jobs, they get jobs but not always in core companies.

According to our research, for CSE, IT and ECE departments, placement is good. TCS is the mass recruiter. Every year, TCS recruits more than 150 students. Apart from TCS there are various companies that recruit students like Wipro, IBM, CTS, Kreeti technologies, DDT, Ericsson, Capgemini and many others. Apart from CSE, ECE, the placement for core departments like EE and ME is not below average.

The best thing about the college is good faculty members. The faculty members here very good and helpful
The college has its own four boys' hostels and one girls' hostel.
Here, besides studies, sports are very good. And the relationship between seniors and juniors is very good here.

Dislikes

Infrastructure in the college needs to be improved.
More lab equipment should be brought to college
The campus needs to be kept more clean. Lighting needs to be arranged.

Placement Experience:

Students will be eligible for placement in the seventh semester. Companies like TCS Wipro and L&T hold interviews in this college and they hire 30 to 40 students from each department. The highest placement of this college is 60 LPA. And the average placement is 4 LPA.

The College has the big campus of 73 acre. Social interactions of is very good.

I mostly like studying in library of mathematics books.
I like to play cricket and football in ours ground.
In my course I like to study digital electronics and digital communication.

Dislikes

I don't like ours department faculties with hod.
Ours campus roads are poorly bad. Very effectively is bad.

Environment is very good, Campus is very clean and Near to Station
Seniors are helpfull they help you to settle in the college, no ragging at all

Faculties are good and helpful and teaching and non teaching all staff are good and mostly helpful
Environment is good college is adjacent to the kalyani university
The transportation system to college is good with nearby railway station is kalyani ghospara

Dislikes

May some people doesn't like the infrastructure
water is not much good like if you stay in hostel sometimes you have to use mineral water

Likes

Campus Size was lush green and pollution free. It is perfect spot for exploring
Good faculty members, everyone has a phd and are well versed with their subjects. Very helpful teacher and faculty staff
Very effective placement facility. The placement committee is very welcoming to companies. Companies like TCS, Wipro, Capgemini, Amazon are regular visitors.

Dislikes

Infrastructure could be improved a lot in our college with proper air-conditioning for labs.
College is a bit far from main Kalyani City. Transportation is a bit difficult
Lack of development and coding culture is an issue here.

Internships Opportunities:

Interns are selected at the end of third year and they provide on campus opportunities for internships as well, like research assistants, Teaching assistant, lab assists, etc. Paid Internships are offered, but in limited quantity for students in CSE, ECE, EE mostly. Companies like Tagmango, Microsoft, and Deloitee come mostly for interview.

I think it's our college infrastructure. We have a big campus area almost 75 acres. But our college is not totally cleaned.
I join KGEC alumni calling process and I did this . I am very happy for that.
All the teachers of our college are highly qualified with PhD degree. Teaching skills of every teacher is unique.

Dislikes

Campus is not clean properly of our college.
College need more workshops teacher in our college.
I think we need more buildings in our college.

Placement Experience:

From 7 th semester all the 4th year students are eligible for placement. Almost 50 companies come in our college for hiring examples Wipro, TCS, Cognizant etc. Percentage of getting placed is almost 80 of all branch. I want to do Mtech form top IITS.
