No one cares much about students' well-being, especially the administration, which is not very helpful at times.Faculties are mediocre at best. They often lack knowledge and teach in a mechanical fashion.There is nepotism among the hostel students . Day scholars are often deprived of many opportunities, including placement opportunities .Campus doesn't look that good. If you have an expectation of magnificent buildings like the tier 1 and 2 colleges, then you will be underwhelmed .On campus placements are really mediocre. Most of the students are selected in mass recruiting IT companies. Good core companies or software companies rarely visit.

How is the faculty at KGEC Kalyani?

Students and alumni of KGEC Kalyani say that the faculty depends on which department or stream one is talking about. If you talk about the Computer Science department, it's no good as the faculties are as incompetent as an amateur swimmer. They lack proper expertise and knowledge to guide a potentially brilliant student and keep the interest-curve high. On the other hand, IT, Electrical and Electronics department is quite good, but talking about the best department in the college, it's mechanical. Students are made disciplined that they do not need any validation. The Head of the Department (HOD) of the Mechanical department is so hard-working that he is maintaining the morale and interest high in students, alone.

Students claim that if one is under the impression that they are going to get placed at their dream job from here, please dispel them. Apart from CSE, ECE, the placement for core departments like EE and ME is not below average.

KGEC: an unbiased diary

1. As it is a government college fees are almost constant every year. Annual fees for different branches vary. Cost to study is very minimum. 2. I got Swami Vivekananda Merit Cum Means(SVMCM) Scholarship of 60000rs/year. I got full freeship in which I am exempted from giving annual fees.

My KGEC Journey

The tuition fees are varies course to course for the electrical engineering the tuition fees are 3000/- and other fees like electricity, seat bookings etc is 1000-1500/- . Their are 1200/- form fill up charges for each semester. In total if we calculate every year 10k is academic fees for electrical engineering in KGEC. We got the svmcm scholarship which is 60k per year. But you have to score more than 60% to avail this scholarship and also no backlog is allowed. Also there are full free ship and half ship is available. The student who are came economically backward classes government provides full free ship and half free ship in their tuition fees.

A Decent Government Engineering College

As it is a government engineering College, it's fees structure is not high as compare to other private colleges. And if you get overall 60% marks then you will get scholarships like OASIS, SVMCM, AIKASHREE etc.

The exams are fully controlled by makaut.

Here the admission fees is not hiked because it is a government college rather than fees are slightly decreased due to Students Fee Waiver Scheme. During study you can apply various scholarships like SVMCM, AIKASHREE, OASIS etc.

A nice college for pursuing B Tech

Sometimes the assignment pressure is too much. You have to write assignments overnight.
It is very hard to prepare for competitive exam along with Semester.
The examination are controlled by MAKAUT.

Multiple exam are taken here which is little difficult for preparation of any competitive exam.
It is under MAKAUT so exams are controlled by MAKAUT
Some times the assignment pressure is too much. You have to submit assignment within the night only
