IET Lucknow Course Admission 2025: Dates, Fees, Eligibility, Application Process, Selection Criteria

IET Lucknow does not accept JEE Main score for their admission process. You must have a valid score in UPSEE to get a seat.

In case you have not applied for UPSEE then you can try for HBTU Kanpur or Madan Mohan Malviya University of Technology (MMMUT), Gorakhpur. These colleges are almost at the same level as IET Lucknow and JEE Main scores are accepted here for admission. 

MMMUT also conducts its own entrance exam i.e. MET exam and some seats are reserved for JEE Main candidates. 

There is no option for direct admissions to join IET Lucknow. You will have to appear in the UPSEE entrance examination and after counseling, you may get into IET Lucknow if your rank is very good. Make sure you meet the eligibility criteria.

Cutoff by ranks for the general category for B. Tech (2020) –

Prepare well for your entrance exams and perform well. 

If you are appearing for the B.Tech admissions, then you can undeniably enroll via Uttar Pradesh State Entrance Exam (UPSEE).

• You will be required to fill the form primarily.
• Following that, you will have to appear for an entrance exam.
• Based on your scorecard, after the exam is over, you can go on to appear in the counseling procedure.
• Every particular government institute and private colleges usually take part in it. Other than that, you can go on to choosing your stream.

Following your choice, you will be informed about the colleges or institutes you will obtain admission in.

Currently, IT Lucknow is considered the best college in Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU). But it is way backward in terms of infrastructure and placements from its private counterparts. The non-core branches’ average placements hover around INR 4-5 lakhs per annum while that of core branches is virtually non-existent.

The students are good as most of them were serious IITs and NITs aspirants before coming here. The students here can easily prepare for other competitive exams as coaching centers are nearby. Attendance is also fairly lenient and thus you will get ample time for your preparations. However, sometimes the administration may go hard if they feel like it.

With a rank of 1750 in UPSEE, I think you can get electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, electronics and instrumentation engineering, civil engineering, and chemical engineering by 4th round. You may also get information technology and electronics and communications engineering by 5th round.

Here are some of the things for which you can consider joining IET Lucknow –

• If you are not getting any NIT or GFTI.
• If your financial condition is not good (Being a government college it has a very nominal fee).
• If you do not want a heavy academic burden.
• If you are aiming for higher education and do not care about placements much.

IET Lucknow is not a bad institute. It is just that it is mostly a good compromise institute rather than an outright first-choice college.
