Government College of Engineering and Ceramic Technology (GCECT) is a government funded autonomous institute, which was established in the year of 1941. The college is located at Kolkata, West Bengal India. It is affiliated to the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (formerly known as West Bengal University of Technology).
The college offers various undergraduate and postgraduate level programs in the field of Engineering and Technology namely Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech), B.Tech Lateral and Master of Technology (M.Tech) degree programs.
Admission to the B.Tech and B.Tech Lateral programs are done through WBJEE and JELET exams respectively. Candidates who want to seek admission in the M.Tech program need to appear in GATE.

At the undergraduate level, Government College of Engineering and Ceramic Technology offers Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) and B.Tech Lateral for a duration period of four years and three years respectively. Candidates who are looking forward to get admission in the B.Tech program need to appear in West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE) conducted by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board (WBJEEB). However, candidates must have to successfully complete their 10+2 level or equivalent in relevant subjects.
In order to seek admission in B.Tech Lateral, the eligible candidates need to appear in JELET conducted by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board (WBJEEB). Candidates who have completed their Diploma in relevant discipline can only apply for admission.
For admission in the B.Tech program, a relaxation of 5% marks is given to the reserved category students as compared to the General candidates.
