AISSMSCOE BE AI & ML FAQs
Ques. Is the BE AI & ML program at AISSMSCOE a new branch? Will it have good placements and industry exposure given it started only in 2024?
Ans. Yes, the BE AI & ML program at AISSMSCOE was introduced in 2024 with an intake of 120 seats. While the department is relatively new, AISSMSCOE has a well-established placement cell with recruiters like TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Cognizant, and many Pune-based tech firms visiting regularly. The AI & ML curriculum is designed to align with current industry demands, and students benefit from the college's existing industry-institute interaction programs, Centers of Excellence, and strong alumni network. The first batch will graduate in 2028, and given the high demand for AI/ML professionals, placement prospects are expected to be strong.
Ques. What is the difference between fees for CAP (government) seats and Institute Level seats in BE AI & ML at AISSMSCOE?
Ans. There is a significant difference. Under the CAP route (government-regulated seats), Open Maharashtra category students pay approximately ₹1,63,000 per year (tuition + development fee), totalling around ₹6,52,000 for 4 years. SC/ST students pay almost nothing under CAP (only nominal charges of ₹6,351/year). However, Institute Level seats (management quota) carry fees of ₹4,89,000 per year (tuition + development), totalling approximately ₹19.56 lakhs over 4 years. Students are strongly advised to secure admission through the CAP route via MHT-CET or JEE Main to avail the lower fee structure.
Ques. Is MHT-CET mandatory for admission to BE AI & ML at AISSMSCOE, or can I apply with JEE Main score alone?
Ans. Both MHT-CET and JEE Main scores are accepted for admission to BE programs at AISSMSCOE through the Maharashtra CAP process. However, MHT-CET is the primary and most commonly used exam for Maharashtra state candidates. JEE Main scores are considered for the All India / OMS (Outside Maharashtra State) quota seats. If you are a Maharashtra domicile student, appearing in MHT-CET gives you a stronger chance of securing a seat through the state merit list. JEE Main scores can also be used, but the weightage and seat allocation differ. It is advisable to appear in both exams to maximize your chances.
Ques. What is the hostel situation at AISSMSCOE for AI & ML students? Is it guaranteed?
Ans. AISSMSCOE provides hostel accommodation for both boys and girls, but it is NOT guaranteed and is allotted on a first-come, first-served basis. Boys can stay at the Shivajinagar Boys Hostel at ₹1,35,000/year (single bed) or ₹1,30,000/year (bunk bed), inclusive of food (4 meals/day), WiFi, and other amenities. Girls have the Sahakar Nagar Ladies Hostel at ₹1,05,000/year with similar facilities. Since hostel seats are limited, students are advised to apply for hostel accommodation immediately after confirming their college admission. Many students also opt for private PGs near the college in Pune.
Ques. What subjects and skills will I learn in the BE AI & ML program at AISSMSCOE, and what career options are available after graduation?
Ans. The BE AI & ML curriculum at AISSMSCOE (under SPPU) covers subjects such as Python programming, data structures, machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing (NLP), computer vision, big data analytics, cloud computing, and AI ethics, among others. Practical labs involve working with tools like TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn, and cloud platforms. After graduation, students can pursue careers as Machine Learning Engineer, Data Scientist, AI Research Engineer, NLP Engineer, Computer Vision Engineer, Business Intelligence Analyst, or Software Developer in AI-focused roles. Higher studies options include M.Tech in AI/Data Science, MBA, or MS abroad. The field is one of the fastest-growing in the tech industry with strong salary prospects.
Ques. How does the CAP admission process work for AISSMSCOE BE AI & ML, and when should I start preparing?
Ans. The CAP (Centralized Admission Process) for BE/B.Tech in Maharashtra is conducted by the State CET Cell (cetcell.mahacet.org). After MHT-CET 2026 results (expected June 2026), the CAP registration opens where you upload documents, verify your merit number, and fill an option form listing your preferred college-branch combinations. Seat allotment happens in multiple rounds (CAP I, II, III, IV) based on your merit rank and preferences. For AISSMSCOE AI & ML (120 seats), competition is expected to be moderate to high given the branch's popularity. Based on previous years' cutoffs for similar new branches at AISSMSCOE, a percentile of 85+ in MHT-CET PCM group is generally advisable for Open category students, though official cutoffs for AI & ML will be established as the branch matures. Start preparing for MHT-CET from Class 11 itself, focusing on Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
